Bradox arranges for a trooper to drive you out to the mines, on the eastern border of Ein. The Great Rift is immense, but Bradox is able to narrow your search by telling you that the missing soldiers were protecting one of the access points from which miners can take lifts down into the mines.
When you arrive at that access point, you are witness to a scene of carnage. The soldiers that were outside the access point have been eviscerated and their wounds are consistent with lightsaber slashes. Lasers and lightsabers have scarred the access point building.
The trooper leaves hurriedly to report the scene to Bradox, leaving you on your own...
You sense the lingering stain of death on this place, and now a touch of cold...
Inside the access point is no better. More soldiers were inside, spending their time watching a view screen and eating and smoking. Furniture is overturned, the viewscreen has been flung across the room, and as with the outside, everything has been scorched by lightsaber or laser.
The lift is a prominent place in the access point, but a screen indicates that the lift is not in station right now. It is on the lowest level reacheable.
Some of them suffered laser wounds, but they seem more indicative of reflected shots than anything. You do recall Rand having a knack for such methods.
The lift takes longer than you would have liked to return, but even so it travels very fast to get back to the access point. When it arrives, there is a ding! and the doors open. It is very wide, meant to carry a shift of miners rather than just two Jedi.
The lift reaches the end of its journey downward, sits for a moment, and then the lift doors open behind you instead of in front, so you turn.
Beyond is a dark tunnel with simple energy lamps strung along the length of the walls, illuminating three figures standing a short distance from the lift.
"Eat this, Jedi!" shouts Dalt, crouched down in the center, a rocket launcher mounted on his shoulder.
