STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Broken

Started by Peach75 pages

Rianna can't really think of anything else to do to prepare before heading out there.

She does definitely think that Barker and Colby should remain back here, though. She doesn't think they'll be much help against Rand and his students, and she'd prefer neither of them get killed.

Indeed, this is something for Rianna and Vera-Kin to do themselves. No use getting Colby and Barker cut into tiny pieces!

Vera-Kin has nothing she wants to do.

"Time to put an end to all of this," Vera-Kin says to Rianna.

Bradox arranges for a trooper to drive you out to the mines, on the eastern border of Ein. The Great Rift is immense, but Bradox is able to narrow your search by telling you that the missing soldiers were protecting one of the access points from which miners can take lifts down into the mines.

When you arrive at that access point, you are witness to a scene of carnage. The soldiers that were outside the access point have been eviscerated and their wounds are consistent with lightsaber slashes. Lasers and lightsabers have scarred the access point building.

The trooper leaves hurriedly to report the scene to Bradox, leaving you on your own...

"They definitely came through here," Rianna says, stating the obvious. She's going to sense around and see if there's anything unusual that they should look out for.

Vera-Kin will do the same, though walking toward the access point.

"Yes, they did," Vera-Kin says. "Meaning they have gone down into the mines. There must be something down there that Rand wants, or is trying to accomplish."

"And whatever it is, we must stop them."

You sense the lingering stain of death on this place, and now a touch of cold...

Inside the access point is no better. More soldiers were inside, spending their time watching a view screen and eating and smoking. Furniture is overturned, the viewscreen has been flung across the room, and as with the outside, everything has been scorched by lightsaber or laser.

The lift is a prominent place in the access point, but a screen indicates that the lift is not in station right now. It is on the lowest level reacheable.

Rianna is going to look for controls to bring the lift back up to the access point, so that they can head down.

Easy. You hit the button and wait.

"I do not have a good feeling about this at all..." Rianna says to Vera-Kin, shivering slightly from that cold feeling. Every time she's felt it so far, things have ended badly for her and she doesn't like it.

"Neither do I, but we must be strong if we are to defeat Rand and his students."

Vera-Kin will see if there is anything paritcular about the carnage in the access point. Were all of them killed with lightsabers?

Some of them suffered laser wounds, but they seem more indicative of reflected shots than anything. You do recall Rand having a knack for such methods.

The lift takes longer than you would have liked to return, but even so it travels very fast to get back to the access point. When it arrives, there is a ding! and the doors open. It is very wide, meant to carry a shift of miners rather than just two Jedi.

Rianna shall enter the lift! She wants to get this all over with quickly.

Vera-Kin does too, keeping her Senses open.

The lift descends. The indicator lights show you descending past level after level of mining tunnels, downward into the crust of Ord Coridari...

As you near the bottom of the mining shaft, it is Vera-Kin that senses them first. People, outside the lift.

Can she sense if it is Rand and company?

She will tell Rianna what she senses.

"Regardless of who they are, no doubt they are unfriendly," Vera-Kin says. "I will break right, you go left. Cut them down if they prove to be hostile."

Don't know who else it could be...

Rianna takes her lightsaber in her hand when Vera-Kin tells her of the people outside the lift, and nods.

The lift reaches the end of its journey downward, sits for a moment, and then the lift doors open behind you instead of in front, so you turn.

Beyond is a dark tunnel with simple energy lamps strung along the length of the walls, illuminating three figures standing a short distance from the lift.

"Eat this, Jedi!" shouts Dalt, crouched down in the center, a rocket launcher mounted on his shoulder.

Rianna is definitely diving the hell out of the lift and away from the rocket launcher...

Vera-Kin decides to break from her initial plan and instead stands her ground against the rocket launcher, using Lifting to send the projectile spiraling off into the side of the tunnel instead of into the lift.
