(As I am feelin cruel for not reminding you of that earlier, narcil, you may try a different magical effect with no extra time taken if you so wish)
Hmmm... best you can think of is to actually limp past the attacking orcs and over towards the Chiorc, Vardalain, but you have certain reservations about such a plan.
Talin, you just about roll out of the way of the first blow which cracks the road to your side, the ball being driven back quickly for another...
(Not long until that update... you guys might be the only good guys left on the field soon!)
Orcs and men are being hacked down in roughly equal measure around the caravan. The men are well-trained but badly shaken; the Orcs now outnumber them badly. A desperate ring has formed around the caravan but the reach of the Orcs' spears is making repulsing them difficult. Anyone using bows must now decide whether to be in or out of the ring. Javelins are flying towards the ring now most of the archers on your side seem to be gone. There is now no way for anyone at the caravan to move elsewhere and anyone elsewhere wanting to move in will have to fight through.
(Situation at lines:
Front Line: 3 men, 2 archers
Side Line: Gone
Rear line: 1 man (unwell)
Centre: 12 men, 1 archer
Some fifty Orcs are now pressing at the centre, with twice as many able to attack (due to their spears) as the humans in the middle. The situation at the front, however, is easing, as the orc attack force there is spent and they really don't want to go near the three hard guys still fighting. Though Aranui and Anglomir still have to fight the three each you have near you.
The last of the flow of orcs comes in from the side and soon the last will be in from the rear as well- the numbers around the centre could soon double. The Chiorc is still being kept away.
Orc death count: About 75. Plenty more where that came from. It is about half their force but they are far more than half done.)
One more update to go, guys... let's be seeing those emergency plans in action! You have held the front, if it is any compensation.
The orc on the caravan that no-one has done anything about throws the door to one side and reaches in...
You desperately fire into the mass in front of you, Vardalain, but you are not sure what effect you had.
Currently in the middle of the battle who could conceivably save the Princess are:
Vardalain
Finuvien
William
Palanfirith
Aranui, Anglomir and Farael are at the front, Talin at the back, and everyone else has kind of disappeared. Well, it's been a long fight... (actually, no it hasn't, it has only been a few minutes. Just goes to show!)
Talin, the Chiorc advances after you towards the middle, easily dodging your thrown weapon.
Hmm... I shall wait for a few more posts before updating.
I was just idly wondering- wouldn't it be nice if the people at the front lines killed their opponents and then charged down the orcs at the caravan? These orcs have been a bit tactically dumb, you see, leaving those powerful warriros to hack up their chums at the front.
(Now, don't ever say I am not nice to you...)

😄
Small problem there, Talin- no orcs have died in the ground between the rear lines and the caravan, where you now are! Would a fallen javelin do?
Good thinking, Aranui, divinely inspired! Now, if only you could do something about those three spear-wielders (one injured) you are currently facing!
Your aim is dead on, Anglomir. The knife hits the orc in the forehead, and it falls back. You clamber up, now facing two opponents on your left and a wounded javelin thrower nearby.
You fire another arrow inot the melee, Vardalain. But you know that simply killing orcs is not going to help- they will inveitably overwhelm you in a straight fight. If you are to hold them off some focussed plan is needed. Oh, and that orc reaching inside the caravan needs to be dealt with...
