Yes?

To be fair Obama is really just making himself look bad.

That I agree with.

Indeed. Sometimes you just need to stfu, because while success is a black man being king of the free world, he doesn't need to try and use that shit to arrogantly try to set himself as a role model and tell children to stay in school.

Kids aren't going to give a **** if some black man with big ears tells them to stay in school. School is boring, a speech from the president is boring... It's not going to do anything.

And then you have students like me who would find that interesting, as a child, that the President wanted me to stay in school. I watched Dan Quayle f*** up the spelling bee, why wouldn't I listen the the president tell me to stay in school?

Of course, I'm was the exception to the rule and most kids wouldn't give a **** what a boring dude in a suit on TV has to say.

Your kids are going to follow what the school teaches them, not their idiot parents.

Odds are they won't follow either completely.

Many conservative parents aren't buying it. They're convinced the president is going to use the opportunity to press a partisan political agenda on impressionable young minds.

all things being equal, this is the same crowd who thinks teaching evolution in science class has the same problem

Well, after I found out what it was called, an elementary school age me was really, really pissed off at Bill Clinton for making me climb that ****ing rope in gym class have have everyone stare up my shorts at my underweight ass...

ah, wonderful gym class...

Oh the wonderful day of gym class. I was a little ****in' monkey. I could climb up the rope without using my feet. My fat ass probably couldn't nowadays. Hmmm. I might just try it! lol

Spoiler:
(If I never sign back into KMC, you know what happened.)

Well, the conservatives will have the last laugh after the next columbine. They can all say, told you so, then.

Columbine was caused by socialism?

So, I didn't see it brought up, but what about the fact that most of these Republicans, especially the ones who are like "oh, I have this many lovely children", would expect them to go to church?

family values is such hypocritical bullshit. gah, makes me so angry, **** the family!

not likely. Peer group is by far the greatest influence on school aged children.

why would conservatives laugh if another school was shot up? Isn't trying to politicize such tragic events a greater immorality than the president wanting to tell students to stay in school?

Of course, there is always an exception.

Usually.

Really depends how he presents himself and if he sticks to the agenda of "stay in school, educate yourself, it will pay off in the future". If he pulls what Reagan did and goes off on political agenda-based tangents, sure, he'll be the clown.

Nothing wrong with the president taking the time to address children, it's a matter of how it's done; I'll hold judgement until after. Bush read to elementary school children; there was nothing wrong with that, it was smaller scale and little more than a PR stunt; still okay.

The speech that he will give to the children.

Doesn't seem so horrifying.

The speech that he will give to the children.

According to some people on CNN, that was a 'changed version' of the original speech.
