Placidity
Chief Executive Officer
I liked that last episode, cleared up lots of things, but at the same time raises a few questions.
I was hoping for a more interesting reason as to how Mikael could kill originals. It seems Mikael is actually weaker (theoretically) than his son, but is just in possession of the white oak stake.
Thoughts:
Killing Klaus via White Oak Stake?
It actually doesn't fully make sense to me yet. We already know about the white oak, albeit it was in ash form along with the dagger, but is the difference so significant between that and a stake? We know the White Oak Ash + Dagger can only "disable" an original and it has to be left in the heart. But we also know that that would not have worked on Klaus since it was said the only way was through weakening him with uber magic.
Mikael special or not?
Also, it seems if the white oak stake is the "secret weapon" instead of Mikael himself (or a combination), then what was the significance of Mikael feeding only from the dead (or undead rather)? If we go by popular vampire lore, vampires can only rejuvenate by feeding on blood from the living and feeding on other vampires usually results in debilitating or other negative effects.
Mikael Good or Bad?
At first I thought Mikael may have been a "good" vampire trying to rid the world of his cursed kind. But then we found out he fed on them apparently, which could be speculated as what drives him to hunt other vampires for food rather than his other motives/beliefs. This combined with how he supposedly killed his wife kind of sealed the deal for me. But with the revelation that Klaus was the murderer and Mikael has only been tracking Klaus down to avenge his family (he may have known that Klaus killed some of the other originals too), what do you guys think about Mikael now?
Now I am again leaning towards my original hypothesis.
Mikael's motivations: Get revenge, and hunt vampires down since he realizes that it is a curse that upsets the balance of nature and all that jazz, especially after he saw that vampirism can spread exponentially and most of the progeny are probably out of control.
This theory is also consistent with my guess that he refrains from feeding on the living because of his ideals/morals (its seen he can feed on living but chooses not to). Contrastingly, it seems he doesn't give two hoots about killing vampires though, i.e Damon.
Father vs Son, why Klaus should win
The way I see it, Klaus should not be afraid of Mikael. So Mikael has a white oak stake, but ignoring that that likely wouldn't do anything to Klaus, Klaus also has his own White Oak Ash Dagger, which can disable Mikael, so they are on even footing as long as having the capacity to neutralize each other.
However, when it comes to a physical confrontation, Klaus should be superior due to his hybrid nature and should get the upper hand. Not only that, he can transform into werewolf form at will, which the show seems to imply has an edge on vampires physically.
Thriving Werewolves in small population?
Whats up with having a whole village of werewolves? It was implied they were the only ones living there at the time. Now with that in mind, also remember that a potential werewolf needs to kill someone to initiate the change, so what - the whole village were killing each other? Doesn't seem like it. Also, during the flashbacks it was said the werewolves and the original family/settlers were living in peace, which means they weren't killing each other either.
Also, its been said that Mikael sparked the Vampire/Werewolf war that rages on till this day when he killed Klaus' father. However at the time, the only Vampires were the originals, and they can't be affected by a lycan bite, so I wonder why Mikael didn't wipe out all of them.
Ingredients of a Hybrid
It seems nothing special is needed - heres why:
Niklaus born a Werewolf ---> Turns into Vampire = Vampire/Werewolf Hybrid ---> Later Werewolf side suppressed by mother.
What am I missing? It seems all you need is to be a Werewolf and just turn the normal way!!!
Of course he was turned into an Original vampire, so that could be the critical factor. But then theres this whole business of the doppelganger, which wasn't required for the creation of the first hybrid.
...
Anyway,
I hope they bring back Elijah. Epic Daddy and Son tag team on Klaus. Could you even imagine what the two would do to him if they were all in the same room?
Also, Rebekah's hot.
