Ursa Major vs Wolverine

No Claws.

Ursa Major- http://marvel.com/universe/Ursa_Major

Why on earth no claws? Doesn't that put Wolvie at a serious disadvantage?

I wouldn't say that.

While in berserker rage Logan breaks free of Ursa Major's hold and throws him:

Credit goes to srank.

It would be a lot harder for Wolverine to put Ursa Major down without his claws. Still, adamantium-reinforced fists coupled with Wolverine's strength could allow him to bludgeon Ursa Major to death.

I'll have to think about this some more before deciding on an outcome.

So Wolverine can overpower 20 tonners now?

We don't know how he broke free. Maybe he head-butted Ursus? Freed one arm and elbowed him? What is UM's best lifting feat anyway?

Logan fought heavy hitters w/o the use of claws before.

Depends on the version of Ursa actually, against most forms its possible Wolverine can take the majority but the upper levels of Ursa who has given She Hulk, Doc Samson, etc. troubles physically I highly doubt.

Intresting that they didn't show how he broke out. A head butt, adamantium or not, isn't going tp faze a full grown "regular" grizzly, let alone Ursa Major. I may have to call CIS on this one.

Bears>>>Wolverines.

Scientific fact. 😄

^^^ After re-examining that link, it looks as though it was clearly intended to be a strength feat. Ursa even says, "Impossible!" "The strength of madness has made him unstoppable!". So yeah, it's CIS

Logan broke free by strength, that was clearly implied.

Nor should it be a surprize he vastly stronger while berserker.

Bears-shmears - Someone tell Steven Colbert, that Wolverine is the number one threat to America now. 😄

Classic X-Men 25 (Backup Story):

Some hunter is tracking Wolverine across the tundra (he thinks Wolverine is a mythical creature like Big Foot). While Wolverine is distracted a bear attacks him, but he puts it down easily. Wolverine goes straight for the throat.

I didn't want to separate this from the rest of the scans. The hunter shoots an arrow at Wolverine, who casually catches it out of the air and throws it back at the hunter (who is far enough away that he can't tell Wolverine is a man).

Weapon X TPB (Marvel Comics Presents v1 72-84):

The Weapon X Program wants to see how Wolverine fairs against a massive bear. He kills it before Hines can say "Four Minutes and twenty one seconds," too fast for the bear to even react.

Wolverine Firebreak 2008:

A blind Wolverine- who is on fire - fights a bear... a bear that's also on fire! How awesome is that? Despite being blind Wolverine pretty much oneshots it.

Wolverine v1 01:

Wolverine three shots a massive bear - each strike a kill shot. First he takes the bears arm off, fallows up with an evisceration than plunges his claws into the bears throat to finish him off. Logan attacks "too hard and fast" for the bear to react. Wolverine doesn't even get hit.

Gotcha. Though I must say that my definition of CIS may be a little broader then most on this forum. I include character inherent stupidity as well or characters consistently doing things they shouldn't be able to do i.e. Squirrel girl, and RULK. There's a certain amount of BS that comes along with the character that we just except as hyperbole and move on.

There is no way Wolverine should be able to out-muscle and overpower Ursa Major. But because it's Wolverine we just roll with it because we come to expect Wolverine to do things that are well beyond his abilities.
