yeah, but like i posted, what happens when hulk and juggernaut, or thor or something fight... how the hell do you mediate that?
it could be done, but you'll need a great format...
I had an idea for a Star Trek RPG. I've been throwing a few ideas together and I could make it work. But as I'm busy with my Stargate RPG at the moment it wouldn't start until the start of summer. I still need to write a story for it, but here's the gist of what I've got so far.
+ Set in 2374 (About a year after Star Trek Nemisis).
+ Set on a Nova-class scout Starship, the U.S.S Columbus.
+ Two threads, a ship thread and an away team thread.
+ Players choose a rank, and a skill (eg. medical/security/engineering/etc.)
+ Something involving a federation planet under attack from some unknown aggressors, with the Columbus already at the planet as a pit-stop or something.
+ Players choose whether or not to be on the away team (which would get stuck on the planet) or the ship (which would face it's ownb problems). With the Captain having to be on the ship.
+ Maybe use my SG-A ver. 3 rules for combat if they work out well.
+ In ship battles (ship on ship, there will also be battles on the ship itself) have the captain giving orders. While the others race have to perform them (choosing how successful the order is carried out).
And that's just to start, as I said it would be quite a while before it would begin, but if I start getting interest now then I should have enough players by the time it's ready to start.

k, what format is it going to be?
and a nova class? seriously? 😛
I like the look of Nova-class ships 😮 and it's not that powerful as it's only a scout ship.
I'm not sure on the specifics as the site's I'm using for information contradicted each other. One said it had 11 Type VIII phasers and 3 Torpedo bays and a crew of 80, but the other one said 9 Type VIII phaser bays and 3 torpedo bays, with a crew of 78. Now they're similar, but I'ld probably go with the first of the two. We can't have too powerful of a ship as it would just be like having a Lv. 100 character in a game against a mid-level character.
i got a RPG already worked out here are the rules

are you going to have a format with hit points and such or just standard type role play?
It's probably going to be hitpoints and the likes.
And I know it's combat-wisely crap, but when I write the story for it I hope to include some way of getting past that. Maybe having it sort of like in the Red Dwarf where Starbug gets upgraded, so that they can have a sporting chance, then while that's going on have the away team on the planet unable to beam back up due to the ships shut down, and having to face the enemy there on the planet.
As I said, the story's still got to be written, but I'm open to suggestions if anyone wants to PM me any.

you could always stick in some quantum torpedoes (as rare as they are)...
as for the story, maybe something first contact esque, in the sense that a hostile force is trying to take control of the ship and have disabled communicators and transporters...
or the 'atmosphere prevents transporter/communicator use and shuttle crashes' plot...
i'll be honest with you dude, i love star trek, but the hit point thing doesnt appeal to me 😬

Yeah, as I said it's still in it's early stages. It may not be hit points, but I don't know what I'ld have instead. The hit points thing would only be for combat and that wouldn't be that much of the game. It'ld be mostly using your brain to solve puzzles and exploring.
I thought of maybe calling it "The game", where the ship it hit with a knockout ray thing of sorts, and then upgraded to be a sporting challenge. Meanwhile, the away team can't beam back up because the ship has all systems (except life support) off-line. They try to get to a communications satilitte, when the enemy beam down to challenge them, but without the upgrades as their phasers are just as powerful. Or something like that...
As I said, early stages.
