spoiler siege #3 preview
Ive joined the Siege late and im enjoying it. I gotta say due to my interest in heathenism I avoid all Marvel books concerning the Norse gods because its a touchy subject for me. However I couldn't avoid this because its an important Marvel event.
I still can't help being a bit miffed about the representation of Thor and Asagardians but it would be unreasonable to expect them to make Thor an accurate representation of Thor which is consistent with Norse mythology.
I do still wish writers would study Norse lore and Norse culture a bit more instead of basing it on The Lay of Harbard and the way they think Vikings behaved. However in the grand scheme of things its no big deal.

Hey - he's the Thor of the 616 Universe, which is not exactly like ours. Just like the Thor from the Ultimate Universe is a bit different from him, the Thor of the DC Universe is a bit different...and so on. In other universes, he goes by names like Orion & Viking, too.

I won't cover the previewed pages as most everyone has seen them. After the preview we get to the Thor/Sentry battle. Sentry is completely off the wall now. His skin is super pale and almost as he were dead. He asks Thor how many God's he is going to have to kill today when Thor hits him with a lightning laced hammer blow. It doesn't seem to phase the Sentry except for pushing him back about 20 feet. The Avengers are on the upswing, with Cap telling Taskmaster that he barely remembers him. Then Osborn says something interesting...he asks Loki if he is ready and that he needs them now. I expected trolls or something to show up, but instead we get The Hood and his gang. So where and possibly who is Loki? Speed then takes the briefcase to Tony Stark who takes it off Speeds hands. The President gives the order to dismantle H.A.M.M.E.R. and the shoot down the Helicarrier, which they do immediately with Victoria Hand aboard. We see more Thor/Sentry action where Thor hits the Sentry yet again with a massive lightning laced hammer strike which seems to "crack" the Sentry shell which has a large bug Void thing climbing out a la the guy from the end of the first Men In Black. Now we get to some good stuff: Steve Rogers taking on the Iron Patriot. While fighting Cap, he asks about the his shields for his armor when he finds his armor has been corrupted by...IRON MAN who completely dosmantles his armor and says the best line in the book "Anything you want to say before Captain America takes your head off?" YES!!! In a last ditch effort he tells Sentry/Void to not let them win and to bring it down which he does and he brings Asgard crashing to the ground in a fantastic two page spread. Osborn is on the ground when Steve picks him up by the head saying "C'mere! You're under arrest Osborn." Osborn's armor flies off and we see that underneath the armor he has his face painted like the Green Goblin. We see the X-Men and FF both saying to each other "Toldja" and Moonstone and Bullseye realizing it's time for them to leave. Osborn starts screaming that they don't know what they've done when Spidey punches him in the mouth. Osborn reveals that only he can control the Sentry and that Loki, the Avengers, Thor, everyone is now all dead because Osborn has lost control of the Sentry and that Osborn was saving them all from the Void. The last page is a bugged out Void with his dark tendrils of death sitting all Buddha style in the sky.
