Ooor, pre retcon beyonder comes and shit stomps the sentry, just as likely as your story. The heroes will prevail in a heroic manner... And Thor obviously gets the final blow.
It makes me wonder if the way Thor came back was just poorly planned. Like one dude was like "Thor will come back more powerful than ever as King of Asgard! That'll bring a new element into it!" And everyone else was like "Awesome! We're going to make Sentry a big enemy who beats everyone and Thor needs to be there..."
