Siege: Invasion of Asgard [ Disscssion Thread]

Started by bbrem12363 pages

Spoiler:
The cover is indeed accurate, saw it at my LCS today. I wondered why there was a new Sentry book out I'd never heard about, then realised that it was the Fallen issue that has been kept so secret. I didn't pick it up though.

So indeed Sentry/Void does indeed bite it in Siege #4. As does someone else seemingly...

As we've seen, Void is putting the beat-down on the heroes, Loki uses the Norn stones to power them up and they start hurting the Void. Loki then takes the stones and sacrifices himself to destroy the Void... only for the Void to regenerate and survive the attack. Now without the the stones, Steve asks Osborn how to stop him, Osborn replies they cant and that the Void is The Angel of Death.

Tony then uses extremis to take control of the still smoking Helicarrier and tells Victoria Hand to evacuate everyone off. Shellhead then turns it a giant bullet and smashes it into Void, detonating it on impact. After the smoke clears there is a giant crater, with a naked Robert Reynolds (now with short hair again) lying in the middle. He asks if he did this, which Tony confirms. He then tearfully begs the heroes to kill him, to which Thor refuses, saying that he will live to pay for all that he has done to Asgard and The Avengers. Bob then transforms into the Void again and begs to be killed.

Thor then strikes him with a massive bolt of lightning killing Bob/Void, only leaving the fried remains of Bob's skeleton. Thor then takes Robert's remains, flies out to space and throws them into the sun.

That isn't were the issue finished though, but I wont reveal that here, may so on the Avengers Spoiler Thread though. So yes Sentry (and Loki) are seemingly dead.

I quite like that - still gives Sentry a certain amount of Enigma

Mind you there are few questionable occurrences ...

1.)The Final Blow ? - Seems like a bit of an unwarranted Dues Ex ma china, also if Sentry is what Norman Claims, in its traditional sense, how would this work?

2.) Related to the previous - how would the projectile bullet, mentioned in the spoilers, cause so much damage. I wasn't under the impression that the objects in question could amount that much force behind them - what are they powered by , frinking Black Holes ?

3.)Can we definitely say this is a killing blow - I'm pretty sure the character in question has come back from a lot more physical damage - In fact even bloody Wolverine and the Hulk have ...

4.) Also how can the character who supposedly acts un-characteristically heroically, possibly perform the action in question. I thought a previous tie in had ruled out this possibility.

I think I have been necessarily as ambiguous as possible, not to give away any spoilers ?

well that was somewhat odd

Spoiler:
Even after the stones power was stopped Thor was working Void over. and got the kill shot that way.

I didn't like the ending. Very weak plot. It was fueled only by the hope that there would be nice fights. At least that's what I think.

the fight was lame/boring to me

Scans of the final battle are up at Hero Chat. Pretty lame.

Spoilers don't looks if you don't want to know.

Just red it and I rearely say that but if you are not a major Thor fan it is a piece of crap.

The whole series had so much potential. They made me wait for this issue more than anything published this year and after all it was shit.

Only good thing for me are Thor's feats which if you are not a fan of the character as I said earlier mean nothing.

well done marvel!!

let's hope heroic age brings something better

P.S. "I could have written a far better ending/fight/conclusion" must have been what many of you were thinking as you were reading the final pages

Fallen Sun was the biggest pile of crap I've read in a while.

Thor fan here!

Worship me.

Spoiler:
Also, it's hilarious how the hellcarrier was Void's downfall, as it reverted him to Bob and allowed a temporary control that eventually led to Thor killing him.

What's even more funny is how the registration act is reversed in one-page and everything goes back to normal.

Oh, Bendis.

Spoiler:
was the thing with cloc an indication that sentry will be back.

Tony didn't use Extremis, and even made the comment "not bad for old armor." A surprisingly robust feat for what looks like his late 70's armor.

And a lol to anyone who was expecting more. It had to end in one issue, tie up loose ends, and bring about the Heroic Age. It's not Bendis's fault, it's the publisher's for giving such a small window in which to enact such change. "Events" used to be 12-16 issues, then 8 became the standard. This one was 4. Even including tie-ins, no writer can be awesome in that tiny window.

So we can officially say that Hellcarriers are Sentry's kryptonite.

Poor Bob...

Was all embarrassed after the Hellcarrier. I'd asked to be killed too.

doesnt really make any sense...he turned into the void right away after that...reminds me of WWH...only sentry had to allow his death or it to happen

It could have been worst, it could have been a satellite!
