K. I'd say the same, except say that "I got better stuff to do then waste money on bad comics." There's good and bad at every company. If you read the big events expecting high art or even great stories, you're fooling yourself. Company pressure and continuity with future plans makes any writer's job impossible in an event. The bigger they are, the more this is true.

Pick up some cosmic stuff, it kicks ass. Again, Siege /= Marvel.

Yeah, I hated Siege 4 but the other books that came out of this was really good. Dark Reign is still one of the best thing that Marvel has produced. An entire era where the heroes we're trying to save their reputation while the villains were running the show.

There's a lot of great stuff from this era.
- Deadpool stealing Norman's credit card and hitting all the atm's for cash owed to him.
- Norman's team up with Doom against Morgana
- Cyclops and Utopia giving the Dark Avengers a beat down
- Loki playing Norman like a fiddle
- The formation and downfall of the Cabal. Namor and Emma joining Scott's Utopia. Doom pissed at Norman for attacking Namor.
- Doombot Vs Void and the Cabal
- Sentry's many break downs.
- Hawkeye, Ares, Venom, Dakan, and Moonstone getting their own books.
- Norman's ineffective hit squad the Thunderbolts.
- The Dark Avengers books

There's plenty more stuff I'm sure you all liked about this era in Marvel. Siege 4 sucked because Bendis failed to deliver. Marvel had a hand in it for allowing this garbage to be published. However, I'm more pissed at Bendis himself since he can produce quality stories. This wasn't one of them. No reason to give up Marvel because of this.

out of curiosity, is this the last mega event for awhile? are the various heroes going to go back to doing... you know, their own thing?

aside from the teams and stuff

That is ridiculous. Based on what Nefaria has tanked, Cage's love tap shouldn't have done jack to him. I know people, especially villains, are the victims of low showings....but c'mon.

It felt like Siege was rushed and Sentry had to disappear quick.

It wasn't just that. What was suppose to be double sized issue wasn't. Then they crammed in Captain America as the governments new big shot while ending the SHRA in a page. What happened through years of events is crammed into a few pages and rush out to print.

Personally annoyed with what appeared to be a sincere tear in Loki's eye as he gathers the Norn Stones. Was wholly expecting some smirk or wink at the end. But whatever. Siege: Loki established a convenient plot device for him to come back.

But I liked the issue overall. And I'm amused at the polarized reactions I see in this thread and others. Especially about the Helicarrier hit. I mean... Voidtry had been fighting a desperate Thor one-on-one taking his full-power blows and lightning blasts, then gets gangraped by Norn Stone amped-Avengers, tanks Loki blasting him, then has to deal with fully renewed Thor (again). Him getting "knocked conscious" so to speak -- from a massive ship barreling down on him and detonating so powerfully it completely disintegrates -- is supposed to be attenuated?

Voidtry's unbelievably powerful, but that kind of sustained beating would take its toll on anyone. Sure maybe Ironman getting that last shot was obligatory, but it was hardly something to sneeze at. Especially considering the Norn Stone-amped beating. One can only speculate how powerful the attacks of Thor, Ironman, Ms Marvel and Quake were when the Norn Stones amped up a peak-human like Cap to the point where a shield throw was blowing through him.

Voidtry certainly didn't let them "beat him conscious." So it was a complete fight, which was done as well as it could have been. And since Bendis had already established Sentry's resurrection abilities, he had to have Bob be "knocked conscious" long enough to permit/demand his own slaying. At least for now. In my book, it wasn't epic, but it wasn't phail either.

I can't believe you left off Fraction's Ironman run and Remender's Punisher run. 😠

Fraction's Iron Man run has been great, and I've liked Brubaker's Cap run as well. And I guess JMS deserves his due for Thor pre-Siege.

I thought that it was a disappointing ending to the series, but not unexpectedly so. Bendis seems to be seriously limited as a writer and just not capable of delivering the big endings that a series like this needs. Not exactly awful, but no real drama, no tension, no buildup, no big surprises. Just flat, and made worse by Bendis' trademark Bendispeak - dialogue that somehow just sucks the dramatic life out of almost anything he writes on this sort of epic scale.

I didn't have so much of a problem with the Void not being quite as badass as expected. OK it could be seen as a bit of a letdown after all the hype but not necessarily enough to kill the story (but what exactly was he? Based on that showing not really the angel of death I would think). It just seemed like Bendis didn't really care all that much, like it was just get in there, write some very average dialogue, and get the beatdown overwith, then a quick changeover to Cap becoming top cop, done, phone it in, end of story.

The Fallen Sun epilogue issue didn't add much either. Just some forced angst and tributes over a hero who was shoehorned into continuity and never that popular anyway.

I honestly had more fun reading some of the peripheral issues such as Thunderbolts (e.g. QS vs Mr. X).+

Someone enlighten me, didn't Count Nefaria die in v3 Iron Man comic?

Highlight of Dark Reign was the death of Frank Castle.

That definetly was a shocking moment that they killed Frank, but now we have Frankencastle? Yesh! I'm still curious how they will fix that.

what the hell is this image all about?

im betting that is

Spoiler:
.....actually i have no idea i just wanted to feel important

I can't stand this Cage wanking. Bendis seriously needs to stop...

I hope Matt will kick his ass in Shadowland.

anyone notice that nefaria disappeared when sentry showed up and came back once he died.

Yeah... Marvel probably didn't want two Supes clones running around at the same time.
