Assuming no jobbing/PIS, Karate Kid would win most fights with Cap; his "skills" function more like a supernatural power than proper combat skill/finesse. Now, if it were something related to general/overall physical prowess (running, armwrestling, comparative weight-lifting, et al), then Cap would win. But hand-to-hand, Val has it over Steve, significantly.

what? physically Cap is greater than Val across the board but the thing is his MA is like a damn super power. He smacks arounc PC characters because of skill, not because he is stronger faster or whatever. That is KK sctick, he is so damn skilled he can give people like superman a run for his money.
If you wanted to do a pure strength competition he isn't stronger peak human, meaning he physically top Cap. But in a normal fight KK would destroy him (not the weakass brainwashed that had trouble with batman, that dude was a joke).

KK doesn't have super strength or anyuthing he is a amazing MA and can find the weakness in people/objects. But no physical stats that make him any more better than peak human. I mean isn't that the writers intent of his creation is to have a super skillful person but with no super powers and have him be able to contend with the likes of Superman and what not.

I always don't expect realism to be within comic books. In regards to Shang-Chi being able to ''punk'' Thing, its was due to his extended knowledge of martial arts and the fact he used some pressure points on him.
The same goes for Batman, he has been able to overpower Despero in combat (who's way stronger than Thing) via martial arts skills.
