I don't find the Azuma one too bad (gasp, the Tree of Fairy Tail supports the Fairy Tail member!), but the Minerva one Erza has an even more clear reason for winning.

It's more, I've come to accept that in FT, you are going to see 'Nakama power.' If Nakama power was a deal breaker for me, I wouldn't be reading it in the first place.

Yah. FT is a manga that is better off not taken seriously.

Its just kind of hard for me to do just that.

All the Nakama bullshit pisses me off, but ugh...I'll be damned I love some characters too much.

And honestly some of Natsu's bug me more. Like Jellal *just having* a fire-boost available for Natsu against Zero.

Even Natsu beating both Sabertooth dragons at once bugged me more than the Minerva fight, because Erza's victory had more clear reason.

Erza, for all intended purposes, lost yet she was still able to come back and one-shot Azuma. the random power-up in the Minerva fight isn't nearly as bad as winning because of friendship alone IMO.

Friendship and the tree of tenrou protecting her so she could get in that last attack.

That goddamn tree! I'm still confused as to how Ultear was able to bring it back even though her powers can't work on organic stuff.

Him making short work of Sting and Rogue is one of the lowest points in the manga for me. All the hype flushed down the toilet. I think Hiro hates Sting.

At the same time, I look forward in the story and note that Sabertooth's loss means that they were not the big foes of this arc and it's building up to something greater.

I would second this. Natsu completely and utterly owned 2 of the stronger members of the strongest guild at the time. At least in the Minerva fight, exchanges were made Minerva dealt her fair share of damage.

But what are you gonna do? Natsu is the lead character of the manga, and come now, it's not like he hasn't been defeating almost every "powerhouse" that is introduced in each arc. The dude should be S class just based off his will alone. lol It's seems like Natsu is above anyone less than Laxxus right now.

Really, FT slacked on giving out S-class promotions and now they need to start doing them like candy.

Meh, I think Natsu would still give her a good fight, and could possibly eke out a victory. I would think Erza is just under or right at Laxxus's level right now.

I would only see Natsu, Gajeel, and maybe Grey making the cut. Lucy is still to weak and Juuvia is on the fence.

I agree on those three being definite, and I'd lean yes on Juvia, but don't forget Freed as well.

I forgot about him, although it seems like he lost to the only strong person he fought. Mirajane defeated him. And it seemed like he preyed on the weaker people like Elfman. Plus, to be a true power house, it appears he needs prep time like when he created the elaborate barriers when aiding Laxxus. I figure if he was that strong, he would have been chosen to represent the guild.

Aside from his trap-making, his demon form at least temporarily fought Mirajane, and he was also really powerful during the Tenrou Island fighting.

All in all, while weaker than Mirajane, Natsu, and such, he's still really strong.

Agreed, I just don't think S-class. I wouldn't include Juuvia, and I think she may be stronger than him currently. I think the other three mentioned would soundly defeat Freed and Juuvia. I would say that they are at the top of the next highest class.

I just feel that the top non-S have gotten so strong, that even the ones beneath them qualify ^^ (If not by a lot)

So aside from the stupid island trial what else qualifies mages as S-class? I mean Natsu technically be Gajeel who was S class of Phantom Lord way back when yet still hasn't gotten that promotion.

Cause not having anything other than the island trials is pretty stupid.

Juvia would beat anyone if she wasn't so god damned stupid.
