You got to be ****ing kidding me...really? This really didn't just happen.
Spoiler:
Sting didn't beat the piss out of the wounded Fairy Tail mages because he was scared despite the fact that they were all on their last leg. So Fairy Tail wins the stupid tournament because of hax power-ups and stupidity.
I was irritated that Erza literally got an ass-pull armor.
Granted, it was internally consistent in that it consumes a lot of magical power and she only used it for like...10 seconds? On top of that, she had to tap into her second origin to use it...so it is not that bad.
But still, there could have been at least a tad bit of foreshadowing like...dozens of chapters ago where Erza drops a line about "I can use that , now, with this release."

Yea, I'll agree on that.
Heh, not every mangaka can write as far ahead and a well planned out as Kishimoto did with Naruto's/Shisui's/Itachi's Crow-eye implantation.
Granted, Kishimoto could have made that technique ANYTHING. But that's the beauty of that particular writing technique: it comes off as both awesome planning and intelligent plot execution.
I am not dogging on Kishimoto. He did a similar trick with Naruto two other times: the key to unlocking his biju chakra and jutsu of the thrown rasenshuriken. Kishimoto is just better than most mangaka at forewshadowing neat stuff. Mashima has his moments but he's not as...I don't know what the word or words for it is...but it is a hipster thing...like...delicious words or satisfying foreshadowing reveals...or someshit. Help me out, here. Why do I like what Kishimoto does more than Mashima's asspull powerups?
Maybe Kishimoto is better because he only does the heavy foreshadowing when it deals with one or two characters. He also usually drops subtle hints as to what will happen to Naruto or other characters. And even in the instances where asspull powers happen, at least we can see it coming before the fight.
Well its not like Erza won with the "Powah of Friendship" alone like she did with Azuma.
Edit: And is there any reason why Sting didn't just sneek up on them like he did with Quarto Pups...or was it blitzing I can't remember.
Read the previews late last night. Shake.My.Head I am now reading it and sigh. I think I am starting to hate Erza.
Oh and...hmmmm Minerva's panties droolio
This is an awesome page. I will hate on Hiro's storytelling all I want but there is no denying the man can draw.
Edit Minerva crying for ****'s sake. Sigh.
So....uh is there any particular reason why Erza always resorts to the nude samurai long-pants get up when she's known as a weapon expert. Fanservice is one thing but its pretty annoying when you see it almost all the time.
I'm also annoyed at the fact that not only did Fairy Tail win but they won w/o losing a single person.

Just 'good foreshadowing,' really, I don't know if there's a specific term 🙂
I think Kishimoto has more experience, a defter touch, and simply pays attention to planning more than most- either actually planning ahead or taking the alternate track of leaving threads he can use later and seeing what fits.
Mashima works more off-the-cuff. He plans ahead, but not quite as thoroughly, and hasn't picked up as many tricks as Kishimoto to foreshadow.
