I knowz right? Catwoman was fun, just not during the hardest parts of Riddler's Revenge.

You didn't like playing as Catwoman? Seriously?

No. They break up the immersion of the game to drop you into a less compelling narrative. It's fun enough to play her in the challenge maps, but the story stuff was awful.

You don't like anything... 🙁

There are others who like her then!

I'm working through the Riddler's Revenge challenges right now and I've finished Batman's, Catwoman's and working on Robin's (saving the supposed "best" for last with Nightwing) and so far Catwoman has been significantly more fun to play as than Robin.

If you have the Catwoman DLC installed you will periodically switch to her in the story in the parts that require her. They are the worst parts of the game. Only do it if you really want the trophies.

Nightwing and Robin have the same challenge maps as Batman, just different challenges suited to their different abilities.

thanks man helped me a lot i began to worry

Just getting around to doing some gaming for the first time in a while. I beat the campaign today.

I suppose it would be too much to ask to have the internet community just ignore the Catwoman sequences. In much of what I've read, they're polarizing. However, they were so short that I didn't mind, and the instant feeling of power when I swapped back to Batman was cool. The "thank goodness I have all my gadgets again" feeling never stopped happening when I switched...Selina is not nearly as equipped to take on multiple dudes with guns.

But then, that's kinda the point. There was a legit moment of panic for me in the Two Face museum bit when I realized there was an endless respawn of reinforcements with guns, they figure out to shoot the gargoyles pretty quickly, and I wasn't sure how I'd handle the situation. It actually pushed my creativity more than the Batman sequences ever needed to (since he has so many more tools). The solution I landed upon ended up being fairly simple, but the process of getting there was cool. If I had played as Selina any longer, I may have started to get annoyed. As it is, the sequences acted just as I assume they were intended to: as a pleasant diversion.

KMC spoiled the ending for me months ago (thanks guys) but it was still satisfying. Boss fights remains 'meh' but those are the hardest things to pull off in a game like this. I was expecting a 3rd-form Clayface, because it seemed like you only needed one trick to beat the endgame boss. Hell, the sniper nest outside the final encounter was more fun for me to take down. But the encounters were varied enough that I enjoyed most of them them (for example, the trippy Ra's Al Ghul sequence surpasses the much-praised Scarecrow scenes from the first game). Grundy was a treat, Freeze was almost laughably bad, and I'm forgetting some others right now.

I'm not one for random challenges and stupid riddle quests unless it serves a role in the plot, so I won't be jumping through nearly all the hoops. The story and gameplay were cool, and that's enough for me. I have a few things I'd like to tie up post-main plot, like the Deadshot and Zzasz storylines, then I'm probably done with the game.

The music, visuals, sense of drama, etc. all played well together. Batman felt like the mythological figure that I've come to view him as, Arkham City was suitably impressive, and the game didn't miss many chances to inspire a little awe at the Dark Knight's persona. While the combat was somewhat simplified (you can get through 90% of the game's antagonists with two buttons, and never really need combos) it was also visually exciting. Travel kicked surprising amounts of ass, and manipulating his travel gadgets became its own minigame, not unlike many Spider-Man games.

So, ya know, obviously it was a good time. It's received too much praise not to have plenty of quality elements. I'd still like to have seen a boss fight that felt more organic. Boss encounters were my big gripe in Asylum, and they only fixed it marginally in this one. But it's hard to complain with so much stuff to do, and such a comprehensive and interesting world to play in.

Next Arkham is a prequal. And, even more importantly, will include the Justice League!

Would've preferred an actual sequel-sequel, but I guess it being a prequel is mainly just so they can still use the Joker, not that I see him as likely to be voiced by Hamill again anyway.

Digi, what were your gripes again with the Freeze boss fight?

And getting the Riddler stuff (at least most of it) does serve a role in the plot like the other side quests when it comes to rescuing the rest of the hostages and satisfyingly decking the Riddler himself.. Just saying. Not to mention completing rows of Riddler challenges unlocks you interview tapes much better than the ones in the first game IMO, but I suppose you could just youtube those.

Ya know, if they go for a silver age theme, I seriously hope there's a Scarecrow or Mad Hatter insane, acid-trip, hallucination moment where shit turns into like the Adam West-verse. Ya know? Shit gets so campy, there's POW's and BIF's coming up all over the place. I'd wanna see it in an Arkham City game, just not for the entire game.

...You sir, deserve a medal.

Wouldn't mind seeing it as something brief like the Mad Hatter part in Arkham City, but not much more than that.

Yeah! As fun and campy as it would come off as, it's got no place in the AA-world. In my opinion, if they do a 'hey, I just met you and call me crazy' kinda scenario with the JL members and the villains and shit, I don't think we'll see a silver age setting. Would be sweet, I guess, but most likely I think most of the game will look alot similar to what we've had before.

And they'd better do the bat-dance when they win.

That too.

Holding out for the game of the year editon i am.

Ah okay. I have it myself on PS3; money well spent imo, and I enjoyed Harley's revenge.

Hamill has said he's done unless they do an animated version of The Killing Joke.

The fact that there was never even the remote chance of danger, and he walked around at a snail's pace while you set an ambush with one of the pre-conceived ways that they tell you straight-up in your bat-computer. There was no sense of discovery since it was all laid out for you, and no urgency because you could wait around for minutes if needed lying in wait.

I shouldn't be able to walk to get a beer and take a few sips before paying attention to a boss fight again, nor should the game tell me exactly how to beat someone. Lamest moment of the game imo, by a lot. I kept waiting for the waves of henchmen that artificially inflate the difficulty on many boss fights. Once I realized they weren't coming, I literally laughed in disbelief.

My thoughts exactly. I'm not collecting a bunch of nigh-meaningless tokens when I can get the same payoff from a youtube clip. Some of the sequences weren't bad, but it asks a bit too much in terms of sheer monotonous collecting. Felt like filler, despite the improvement from the first game.

Personally I really enjoyed collecting the Riddler trophies. Some of them were really challenging and felt like legitimate puzzles, and solving those ones was extremely satisfying. The added benefit of actually earning the interview tapes just made it better. Collecting all the riddler trophies actually made it feel like I was playing a completely new game. Was great.

Also, you probably aren't interested, but playing the game on New Game Plus was an amazing experience. The perfect ratio of challenge to reward. And it made the Mr. Freeze fight the most difficult scenario in the game for me.
