That's pretty much his job.

I was never one for theatrics.

*Scratches his head* Oh I have debated with people far worse and it didn't rattle me, the thing is the reason I was looking forward to Leo and Galan is not only did I respect them as posters, but I didn't believe it would go into those silly tactics. Its more disapointment then anything

usually when I debate you or correct your overhyped notions of the alpha flight characters, I try to elevate the tone of the debate. 😉

Everything I have ever claimed has been shown in comics.

Me either really. I've never been a fan of that style of argument. I used to have to deal with it all the time back in the times when Alpha Centauri, Nataku, an Long Pig were more active in the Vs. There's a lot of people that think being a dick helps their argument. I never got that. I've typically been more of a point-counter point/logical line of reasoning style debater and leave the cheap pops and sarcasm to the opposition (like in the Superman Vs. Full Potential Iceman thread).

Charlotte's really good at it. She usually derails a counter attack into focusing on something that isn't particularly important and causes opponents to waste all their posts arguing that rather than the strengths of their own plan.

She's really good at straw man-ing?

Exactly!

Logical fallacies 101:
Person A has position X.
Person B presents position Y (which is a distorted version of X).
Person B attacks position Y.
Therefore X is false/incorrect/flawed.

This is not a valid form of debating. Call it a tactic if you want, but the people who employ this should not score high on the "debating skills" chart by any means.

Quoted for the truth!

'tis why we need to do a BZ one day.

That wasn't my backhanded way of saying Leo is straw man-ing.

Kris quick, High Five Delph. 313dur

if someone strawmans, then you have to show that they are strawmanning. if you successfully show someone is strawmanning, then you win debate points and make the other person look foolish at the same time.

While at the same time being taken off message and depleting your post quota.

Lawlz @ Delph rewarding straw man tactics.

Come on, bruh...

Well, any tactic has its use- limited at least.
Though Leo is overdoing it a bit, and- I remember in high meta amalgam tourney Blair (with ridiculous tactic) was able to point out leo's rudeness to the judges FTW- so pleas to the judges to disqualify opponents for being overly dickish is valid strategy and has at least one win on its record.
When I debate, I try to respect everyone and not insult anyone. At least I try to be polite while brutal at dissecting opposition's strategy.

And my match against Kris is one of the worst in my career...in fact I was glad I lost as it was held during really busy period for me (my winter exams came RIGHT after New Year holiday, I needed time to study and has little to devote to match). Not to mention making tactical mistake of drafting high-featless character (gundam got over-the-top impressed by GL-owning feat, it felt like "Spot syndrome" all over again just with new partner) and having basically do all the stuff by myself.
Digi once compared me to Krissy Von Doom not only in terms of gender but in terms of debating prowess...

You talk about me alot with ridiculous tactics. I'd like to know how many tournaments you've ever won with yours 🙂

Besides the point, I don't remember ever appealing to judges due to dicky posts, especially about Leo. We both do the same thing. Furthermore, I'm not sure if you are talking about the tournament where DARKCRAWLER created our strategies (with Jubilee) in which I had nothing to do with, or the Ironman/Spot amalgam I had.

Technically, Charlotte won delph's EZboards tourney.

@Charlotte Btw, why in the world would you team up with someone you defeated in a BZ match a week before? Seems like a poor tactic to team up with someone is decidedly less skilled than you haw-som. I mean, I landed me one of the most knowledgeable debaters around.

Also, you guys lost because you didn't really have any way of countering energy absorption 😐

If you can lure someone into a trap game and they don't flesh out their own offensive due to getting lost in a pointless exchange, I'm not just gonna fault you for setting the trap, I'm gonna fault them as well for being dumb enough to fall for it.

Ironman\Spot. Leo behaved just the way he behaves now and lost. You never complained outright but made sure to include valid number of complains into your post. And I'm not insulting YOUR tactics, B-Dub. Loss is loss, there's no reason to be bitter about it.

Though I still hold mixed genre low meta tourney as the crappiest one in my carrier. Here I didn't really care...

Whoa now. Lets keep it clean B-Dub.

*edit

Ironspot was hilarious.

you know, I've got to read this leo debate to see what everyone's talking about.

everyone's making it sound like he's being the biggest ass in the world or something...
