Batdude123 and TheKahn's Holiday Herald Tournament

Started by JakeTheBank73 pages

Not to mention posts were sent in before we even knew where the fight was taking place. Our write up didn't factor in we'd be fighting on Apokolips and neither did theirs. Regardless, the intent is pretty clear cut.

We're discussing the interpretation of the rule.
but you're applying the specific facts of an current ongoing battle.

Because we're discussing the application of the rule to the occurence in the battle, Starscream.

Looks like Batdude made his ruling. Case is closed.

Wow I take back what I said, Leo is being a douche in his posts.

So much for respect. 😬

I was going to say.

Not backing up claims is a thing for for the judges, but his overall attitude and behaviour is unacceptable.

If we can respectfully address plans we think are far out or simply impossible, Leo can damn well do so himself.

Styles make fights. Some people take the flippant/insulting approach while others take the logical/polite approach. Both have their merits, and some people are more receptive to one style or the other. Part of the debate is casting doubt on your opponents argument which can be achieved in many ways. It can get ugly, but it's not personal. You just have to be diligent and effective in your rebuttals and counters.

Meh. I'm probably ruder, to be honest, though I only scanned Leo's post.

That's nothing though- Id has now taken to referring to us as "Team Dong"...

I suddenly feel less proud about destroying their arguments now that I realize that I'm up against middle-schoolers.

In other news, have judges been decided upon?

😂

tourney first-timers . . .

go back into past tournies if you want to see me really being a douche. gimme a break gentlemen. i've in no way insulted either of you in a personal manner in the least--i've said in the past that km is one of the best debators on the forum. all my comments are directed towards some of your planning.

thicker skin boys. just having fun. thought you (specially you KB) would have known that.

and 'not backing up claims' is most certainly NOT something for the judges to decide--it is OUR job to point that kind of stuff out.

oh, and smurph, you ARE ruder. but . . . TEAM DONG??

sorry bro, but that sh!t is FUNNY! 😆

Trash-talking outside of the tourney is all well and fun, you've noticed how I partake in that as well 🙂

Inside the tourney matches it just seems pointless. We're not 13 years old and I was under the impression that these fights were supposed to take it up a notch from the VS crap. These are the closest we come to actual debates on an online forum, and the occasions where I would do debates, I show my opponent the same level of respect I expect them to show me. Not to mention the same level of literacy. I would assume "lol u r stupid" belongs in the VS sections or the high school hallway, not in the clash of comic-titans.

Consider it psychological warfare man. Charlotte's really good at it. She usually derails a counter attack into focusing on something that isn't particularly important and causes opponents to waste all their posts arguing that rather than the strengths of their own plan.

It could be worse. In the early days people from the peanut gallery would post comments and questions about your plan and they weren't even involved in the battles. Things have been somewhat more refined now. Just can't let your opponent get under your skin and get you off message.

I know what he's trying to do, just assumed that the debates here had reached a higher level. Debate a man's point head on.

Nope. It's more lie, cheat, steal.

Basically, it's like a political campaign.

Hope you don't have any illegitimate children or a mistress. That will be brought up also.

He's just acting disbelieving and incredulous of everything that you say, and vocally so.

That's pretty much his job.
