I've been living solo since I was 16 years old.
That was 5 years ago.. still doing fine. Though it's pretty stressful at times.
You learn many things in life if you do things by your own.
You learn how to budget the money sent to you by your parents (in my case, my parents are overseas, and they still send me money via remittance), you learn how to manage your time with household chores and academics (the 1st year I left was the most troublesome, since I didn't have any domestic helpers doing the chores for me).
Rent a place, hire a maid to do the chores (if you can afford to so you can focus on your studies, if you still go to school), and manage your expenses by listing them all in a notepad.
It's not so hard to chores on one's own. There's no reason to have a maid. Seems like a waste of money. hmm
The majority of housework that needs to be done can be done while studying or on the weekends, or for instance if you use a dish, clean it immediately after so there's less to do later.
Edit: But I've been doing laundry and dishes and sweeping and mopping since I was four.
First thing off, do NOT move to Manhattan. That is possibly the stupidest decision you could come up with. Live in a boroguh in New York such as Brooklyn(That's where I reside!) or Staten Island. No jokes, a one bedroom apartment in Manhattan will probably cost you the same as a three bedroom two story house in either Staten Island or Brooklyn. The city is only 40 minutes away from Brooklyn, so I see no problem with living there.

When did you move out?I want to prove my mom wrong that I don't have to wait until I get married to move out of the house. I plan on moving to next year to new york city. Hell, I doubt I will get married anytime soon. I'm 18 and I feel that it's that time coming for me to have my own freedom. I'm aware of responsibilities as I have to help pay rent. -_-
