I've already countered this. Even before you brought it up, I countered it. You're just not paying attention.

Go back and read all my posts and tell me when you find it.

I'll give you a hint: it was in my last post.

Ooooooooooh! Sick burn. 😂

You didn't counter it, as it stands, being able to take apart and examine a computer, doesn't give you access to it's operating system/programs, you'd need to turn it on first. As I've said, the ship only turned on 2 days before Goldblum got there.

So that's all the humans had to work with when devising a virus to attack the alien computer systems, 2 days. Less for Goldblum, as he got there and was ready to go in a few hours.

Dude, you can say something and hope it's true, but that doesn't make it true.

You countered squat. My point still stands. There is not counter for it because it is correct. You can only add to its correctness.

And, for once, I am serious about that.

I didn't read this part of your post. I am a bit worn out. Too much work to do this mid-afternoon.

I'll read it if I get the urge, and then destroy everything you say some more.

You cited examples of where human development paths have been greatly different? I can't find any honestly. Can you explain to me which ones you mean?

LoL, no, the movie destroys your points, I'm merely retelling what was shown. So if I give you one of my computers and allow you to take it apart, examine and put it back together, with the one rule you can never turn it on/power it up, you'd know which OS I was running and which programs I had installed? (No you wouldn't)

Because this is what Goldblum attacked, the alien program(s), not the hull or components of the ship. He did this with only hours of access to the activated ship.

It's called...I support a large portion of users in DC, so I didn't have much to do yesterday. 😄

Especially if he was the ONLY one to figure out the "code." You know, something that not even the "smartest" scientists in the world at Area 51 couldn't figure out.

It was only the US government trying to figure out the alien technology, and it was for decades that they were trying to do it. And, jamming the alien signals would have been impossible as they took over the entire satellite network and then some. Not such "global" jamming device exists, nor could it exist due to the power requirement and multiple locations.

Their first and only priority whould have been saving as many lives as possible.

Not at all. The "maga" blaster worked in a "blast radius" that was circular. The ships were slow moving, and it took time to charge the blaster. It would be quite difficult to take out highly mobile targets like the fighter jets. If they sent in their ground troops to finish the human genocide, they would have lost many lives to the mobile fighter jets..and other types of mobile war machines. The most effective option/choice would be a mobile fighter that not only flies, but has it's own shielding technology.

Their mobile fighters were piloted by the aliens. Will Smith was one of the very best fighter pilots, so the probability that his character would encounter a fighter and it end up in a dog fight is really high. The fact that Will outsmarted the alien fighter with superior flying skills should not be a suprise due to both pilots being...organic.

One thing I liked and picked up on about the aliens is a difference in the type of technologies we had. The aliens had to use OUR network for that communication. Something tells me the aliens weren't too big into wireless data. Else they pilot their own ships and fighters? 😄

They focused on high defenses, but dumb offensive weapons (meaning, no smart guided stuff, it was straight line for their "green sh*t."

Exactly. It would be foolish to think that an alien sapients would have the same exact concepts of computing as we do. Their species obviously works much more closely together than ours does. They were highly coordinated and never once did we see disodence from their groups, but we see quite a bit from the humans. If you have such a "hive mind" species, something like "hacking" or even stealing may seem completely foreign.

What I see in the film is a very intelligent depiction of what an invading alien species would be like. The first time I watched the film, I saw many things that I had read or heard about the potential sociology and technololgy from an alien species.

An advanved alien species would not necessarily be benevolent and loving to others, but they may be very "cooperative" with each other. Their technologies would not develop in the same paths as ours so we would see things like, highly advanced biology-related technology, but little robotics, or highly advanced offensive weapons, but very little communication technology...bla bla bla.

This is why I liked the depiction of the aliens in ID4. They obviously perpared, biologically, and they had "biologically" developed technology. But their weapons weren't very smart, their communications were not as developed as ours were, and they had little to no defense against a system specific virus/worm.

No dude, i'm sorry. The mothership displayed capabilities of firing rockets. That would be more than enough to take down the petty airforces. How the hell were we more advanced in communications than the Aliens? The Aleins were psychic dude lmao 😆

This is what ID4 boils down to. There are psychic Aliens whom posses badass advanced super technology but they're not smart enough to outwit a rag tag guerrilla force. A force that is powered by, combustion technology mind you. The Aliens technology was definitely far beyond combustion.

The aliens got dumb when the movie needed them to be dumb. There is, absolutely no explanation for the Aliens decisions. Serisouly, all they had to do was to hover over every city, like they did and bomb the **** out of it and keep doing this in key areas and then just wait for Humanity to starve and or kill itself. However, these aliens were stupid. They did everything right and then suddenly decided to go retard.

Intelligence says...,(you can fly hover and change direction all while traveling at mind blowing speeds? Well, why don't you study your enemy a little bit before you decide to invade and destroy their entire existence. No, instead. These big dumb aliens got a brand new toy from mommy and they got to anxious. They decided to break in with Guns a blazin. Stupid...stupid

😂

Some might say they "went full retard; you never go full retard."

You didn't understand what I meant.

Also, if you want me to take you through human history and the technological development differences, you can kiss my ass.

You can change a few words around to make it fit, if you have to.

It did not. It fired more energy shit.

And, how do you know that wasn't just a little ship, parked in the garage firing a la anakin from the phantom menace? AHA!

Not psychic, telepathic.

Only some of their technologies were highly advanced.

Their technology remained the same for 50 years whereas humans progressed exponentially over 50 years. Obviously, they are slow.

Nah. They were dumb the whole time. Take their technology away and what do we have? Frail dumb aliens.

And, they didn't do anything differently. It was the humans that changed the game against the strategicless aliens.

All the aliens tried to do, the whole time, was kill as many humans as possible. Their plans didn't change the whole film.

It's cause they were dumb.

We shouldn't expect every alien species to be expert chess players, nor should we.

There could be a species out there that makes even our super computers that play chess, look dumb.

Okay, well, I think you are wrong, ultimately human technological advancement has taken a similar path. If you are human you just need some previous information to go the next step. Maybe that isn't true for all species but it is for humans, I am pretty sure.

Ah, you're doing that thing you do when you've stumbled and can't find your way back up. No worries.

Anyhow, if you think I'm making it up, watch the movie again. Data specifically says the ship only activated itself two days prior, this is all the time the scientist had to figure out the operating systems/programs of the ship, which would have been alien to them. Goldblum had a matter of hours. So the story; how it went down, would be improbable in a real-world type of scenario.

Ah, you're doing that thing you do when you know I'm right but can't figure out quite how you went wrong. I'm not worried.

You're still missin' it, bud.

You know, I actually don't care if you call me. I'll explain to you what you're missing, respectfully. Ask RJ for my number and I'll explain to you where our disconnect is.

LoL, no.

I've read what you said, the humans having access to the ship for 50+ years and being able to repair it is a moot point (of yours) when it comes to the computer programs, which they didn't have access too, because of not being able to "replicate their [the alien] energy source".

Just watch the movie, it'd help you out a lot. <-- good free advice, that.

Yup. You're still missing it. Despite the fact that I posted it in rather explicit terms. I don't want to waste time on the forums, anymore, about this. It's really off topic and Ush could lay down the hammer on us, if he wanted to. (And he'd be right.)

Hahahaaha. Okay though.

(I own the film, PM me your address; I'll send you a copy. Should set you straight.)

I've watched the movie probably 6 times, growing up (which is an absurd amount for me as I don't like to watch films more than once, usually.) i have most of the dialogue memorized. I don't need to see the film ever again.
