I don't count something animated and direct to DVD as belonging to a film series; it compliments it, at best. That's like saying Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy has to include Batman: Gotham Knight as part of the series.
Getting released in September? That is arguably the deadest month of the year for new films in North America to get released. Expected blockbuster hits don't get released in September.

But the thing with Dark Fury it fits into the movie's timeline.

So did Batman: Gotham Knight. So does The Clone Wars series for Star Wars, or the Star Wars Holiday Special (going way back to 1978!) None of them actually get included as part of the feature film series.
I saw one DVD box set some years ago that included Dark Fury as part of the 'Riddick Trilogy' - it's false advertising, far as I'm concerned.
Been out of the country for a week, so I'm a little behind...
Damn, September 6th. That's a long-ass time considering it's finished. 😬
I guess they're avoiding the summer months 'cause there will probably be bigger competition then? Whatever can help its chances I guess. But damn, that's a long time to wait.
