After reading this latest issue I have one word for Norrin, Beta Ray Bill and the rest... PUSSIES!

They may or may not be more powerful then my boy, by they damn sure don't have anywhere near the heart.

ah I was sure they would keep the human characters of the team in the spotlight.

I was just wishing they would write all members of the team as equally important.

So what did Thanos do in the latest issue?

That would be considered, in some ways, Ronan wanking.

Better than Nova wanking. we had this in annihilation

you guys do know chaos war already outsold thanos imperative right?

To be fair, Incredible Hercules was quite impressive, it was among my favorite books right next to GotG.

I would call it bittersweet. I talked to him and lanning separately (they were sharing the same table but were there at different times) and i asked them where marvel cosmic was going. To that question dan abnett replied about the 1-shot coming up. I asked him "what about after that?" and he said he really didn't know..it was up to marvel and he was as much in the dark about it as me. in so far as their stories were concerned, thanos imperative is the last of them, and the 1-shot is the epilogue, and it's then up to some other creative talent to pick it up after that, if and when marvel deems it's appropriate to do so.

he didn't exactly go along with the company line...he could tell i was disappointed and didn't mention heroes for hire at all. i don't know if that's because he didn't want to "self-plug" (due to me not asking about it) or if it was because he knew i wouldn't give a shit about heroes for hire.

Lanning I had a slightly different convo. I told him about my frustration about Chaos War being marketed as "bigger than the Infinity Gauntlet! More cosmic than Annihilation!" when in reality it's a herc and thor-centric story with pantheons as both supporting characters and antagonists, while SS and Galactus are so far the only truly cosmic characters. I then told him that while in TI you have Lord Mar-Vell looking to erase death and ensure perpetual, unchecked life, in CW you have Amatsu-Mikaboshi looking to erase everything and return existence to one of the void. They are perfectly opposite agendas at extreme ends of the same spectrum, yet they are happening concurrently. I told him that I didn't think Chaos War was "cosmic" in the sense that Annihilation was cosmic, and TI is currently going, and that it was a bit odd for marvel to agree for the two projects to occur simultaneously.

Lanning agreed with me. He then went on to highlight how some stories take after a lot of ones that he and abnett had already done (he pointed to the current kang story arc in avengers, and contrasted that with what he and abnett had already done in GoTG) but at the end of the day he has no control over it. He said while he agreed with me that chaos war should have been postponed in order to give TI it's full course, someone at marvel obviously thought otherwise; he and abnett were given no heads-up about chaos war or the fact that chaos war would have its own "returned-from-the-dead" version of Mar-Vell which awkwardly and blatantly contrasts with their own "undying" version.

so they're not exactly going with the company line, no.

So they weren't given a heads up on Chaos War huh? I figured as much. Also interesting that he alluded to some of Marvel's talent perhaps swag jacking DnA. Hell the entire plot of Chaos Wars is seemingly lifted out of Annihilation. Ultimately Annihilus wanted everything destroyed so that there would only be him left.

Any who it'll all be over soon enough and I'll go back to my indie shopping again. As a cosmic fan in general and a Nova fan in particular it was cool to see my boy have his time to shine in the sun. Here's to hoping that he dies a wonderful death at the end of TI 6 and doesn't fall into the hands of Loeb.

Cause who doesn't love Spider-man and Wolverine soaring through the skies! Pretty sure it outsold Annihilation as well. Does that make it a better story?

I was only saying that in jest. The way that it went down made sense. This entire crazy 4 year cosmic run began with Nova, Thanos, and Starlord so I guess it's fitting that it all end with them as well.

I liked what A&L did with the cosmics and I liked that they went and referenced past cosmic series such as Infinity Watch, Guardians of the Galaxy and even gave Darkhawk and Nova a time to shine. All in all it was building up to be quite an epic isolated universe.

It kind of feels like some sort of cheating to make everything just be gone like that, specially after hearing Quesada say several times he just wasn't into cosmic stuff.

So true. They actually respected other people's work and tried not to piss on it. In fact I'll give you a little story about DnA. One of my fellow bucketheads who runs a fairly popular site referenced an ongoing Fantastic four arc when writing his review of Nova #32 I think it was. Low and behold he gets an email from Lanning asking him about that FF reference because he wanted to make sure that they weren't pissing on anything that was going on in the current Fantastic Four arc! That's how much respect that they had for other writers work. Too bad they didn't get the same respect.

Well that's how it is in the wild world of comics unfortunatly. Alway's trying to fix what ain't broke.
