very nice. I'm looking forward to reading this tomorrow.

Great issue...better than the last one. Thanos is a monster.

That said...looks like the fates of some characters are beginning to be sealed. I met Sepulveda at the ny comic con and he had some pages of TI#6 on hand; this issue gives some further clarity on what he showed me. Sad that the cosmic run begun by annihilation 5 years ago is coming to an end next month.

The cosmic scene is set to continue next year with the Devastation wave, which was announced a CC

You do know that "Devastation Wave" is a 1-shot right? That it's an epilogue to TI in the same vein as Heralds of Galactus was an epilogue to Annhilation?

I started to figure out this was kind of an ending when seeing this issue's preview. I just hope it goes all out in a bang.

Shiiiit, didnt know that, kinda makes sense as there was too much to fit into TI#5 and 6.

Is there any info on Devastion wave or TI#6 at the end of issue#5?

no...all we know was what was announced at the con (which i missed, even though I was there).

I did however talk to dan abnett at his little table that he had set up there, and he said that the one-shot is an epilogue to TI...not because they didn't have room to tell the entirety of their story, but because they wanted to lay the groundwork for the future (if any) of marvel cosmic.

In his words "you will be very, very pleased with it"

so take that for what it's worth.

Ah k, i remember in GOTG Oblivion saying something about the pieces all set up for the End War, maybe this is what they are working towards.

After reading this latest issue I have one word for Norrin, Beta Ray Bill and the rest... PUSSIES!

They may or may not be more powerful then my boy, by they damn sure don't have anywhere near the heart.

L.O.L at Bill not having anywhere near the heart Nova has.

Surfer? I don't particularly care so whatever.

Of course, I haven't read the newest issue so I don't know if Bill has been incorrectly portrayed.

P.S. Nova is definitely not as powerful as Bill or Surfer.

{edited at poster request}

Oh and Thanos is a beast. Of course we knew that already but, damn.

Just curious. Did Abnett express any kind of regret or disappointment at how this all went down (the end of Marvel cosmic) or was he pretty much going along with the company line?

Real talk. Considering what was said and not said at the NYCC and just knowing the characters in question, particularly Quasar, it prolly was an editorial mandate. You'll see what I mean when you read it.

I would call it bittersweet. I talked to him and lanning separately (they were sharing the same table but were there at different times) and i asked them where marvel cosmic was going. To that question dan abnett replied about the 1-shot coming up. I asked him "what about after that?" and he said he really didn't know..it was up to marvel and he was as much in the dark about it as me. in so far as their stories were concerned, thanos imperative is the last of them, and the 1-shot is the epilogue, and it's then up to some other creative talent to pick it up after that, if and when marvel deems it's appropriate to do so.

he didn't exactly go along with the company line...he could tell i was disappointed and didn't mention heroes for hire at all. i don't know if that's because he didn't want to "self-plug" (due to me not asking about it) or if it was because he knew i wouldn't give a shit about heroes for hire.

Lanning I had a slightly different convo. I told him about my frustration about Chaos War being marketed as "bigger than the Infinity Gauntlet! More cosmic than Annihilation!" when in reality it's a herc and thor-centric story with pantheons as both supporting characters and antagonists, while SS and Galactus are so far the only truly cosmic characters. I then told him that while in TI you have Lord Mar-Vell looking to erase death and ensure perpetual, unchecked life, in CW you have Amatsu-Mikaboshi looking to erase everything and return existence to one of the void. They are perfectly opposite agendas at extreme ends of the same spectrum, yet they are happening concurrently. I told him that I didn't think Chaos War was "cosmic" in the sense that Annihilation was cosmic, and TI is currently going, and that it was a bit odd for marvel to agree for the two projects to occur simultaneously.

Lanning agreed with me. He then went on to highlight how some stories take after a lot of ones that he and abnett had already done (he pointed to the current kang story arc in avengers, and contrasted that with what he and abnett had already done in GoTG) but at the end of the day he has no control over it. He said while he agreed with me that chaos war should have been postponed in order to give TI it's full course, someone at marvel obviously thought otherwise; he and abnett were given no heads-up about chaos war or the fact that chaos war would have its own "returned-from-the-dead" version of Mar-Vell which awkwardly and blatantly contrasts with their own "undying" version.

so they're not exactly going with the company line, no.
