The Phoenix was Jean but Jean wasn't the Phoenix according to Fraction pen anyway.

If we take x-men forever and the fate of mutants into consideration, the PF doesnt just burn away what doesnt work, she would be ensuring mutant surivval to guarantee the continuation fo teh abstracts.

It's true she was already born when jean came to emma in the dream, but the phoenix force was still shattered and spread throughout the 616 when that happened. It only gathered back when the girl returned, but she still carried a fragment with her into future, probably born with it. So the remainder of a fragment of jean (assuming she's one with the pf) in the 616 to interact with emma while another portion was within hope is still consistant with the girl being or eventually becoming jean.

I'm going by phoenix endsong and warsong here. She might not be or have been jean since birth, but jean is still one with the PF right now, so I see an eventual mergere or reintegration of the whole thing as jean grey/hope/phoenix. Ill admit the consistancy of how one and the same jean and phoenix are is problematic though.

Jean sucks and I hope Hope is not Jean.

IRRC X-Men Forever v1 doesn't say that mutants will become abstracts. It refers to everyone on Earth having the potential to become abstracts not just mutants.

I have no idea what that the reason for the PF becoming hole again was but if anything it's probably because Hope is a more suitable host then the others. Keep in mind that there are 5 lights and 5 shards but that sounds like bad fanfic.
I have a feeling that they'll use Hope to erase the PF connection from Jean permanently so that she's usable.

I wish they would just take a break from events. they are tiresome and inevitably end up disapointing us in general.
Sometimes i wish the whole marvel universe would just die... apart from emma that is. she can get absorbed into DC or something.

i doubt they'd resurrect nightcrawler this quickly (if they have any sense). banshee of thunderbird being front and centre is fine with me.
