STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

How about we just say that we're actually regular mercenaries who have a grudge against Marl?

Remember that the money is not priority; it would be handy for keeping up your facade but your goal is to find Marl.

And remember, despite having no authority as Jedi here on Nar Shaddaa, you still need to adhere to the Jedi code. Threatening to murder everyone in the room with your lightsabers isn't in keeping with said code!

Indeed.

We'd have to keep the money issue up or else Harfer will get wise and tip off Edula. Right now I think we push the money issue and then mention Viriont is interested in finding Marl, for reasons he felt we didn't need to know. At least that's all I can think of for now...

Hopefully Edula isn't on good terms with Marl and decides to get rid of us...

I will try brain-think one more day before going ahead with plan 'We're totally with Viriont' or (WTwV).

Totes wit' Viriont.

I'll give you a day before Edula asks why the hell you're here and who you are.

Well I've tried thinking it over and I still stand by my idea I posted last night... Unless Vlad has anything to add I say we charge ahead!

Wentar will approach Edula's desk and wait for her to address him before speaking.

Lets give it a try. Vlad will follow Wentar, standing by his side.

You approach Edula's desk. As you do so, she watches you curiously, raising an eyebrow. She then shifts her gaze to Harfer.

"What the hell is this?" she asks.

"Er, eh, they say they're Viriont's guys," Harfer says. "I don't remember 'em though."

"Then why are they down here?"

"They... well, they beat up everyone."

Edula sighs.

"Useless guppy."

Wentar will simply smile. "Greetings Miss Edula, I apologies for the inconveniences," Wentar shrugs. "There seemed to be some kind of faulty communication here. Viriont would have come himself but that Jedi on Triskatan was nasty business, from what he told us."

"So it would seem," Edula says. "You are not the men I gave clearance to. Viriont had a very tight group of men under his employ, and in the off-chance that Viriont was offed in his mission, I was still to pay them... if they survived. You two weren't among them. Explain yourselves or I'll have no choice but to fry you where you stand."

"Viriont was the only one who made it out and he's currently not in any condition to be popping into clubs on Nar Shadaar," Wentar replies, keeping eye contact with Edula. "We were the only available people he trusted enough to pick up his payment, thus he sent us to see Harfer in his stead. I'm aware that we don't have clearance but, given the unfortunate circumstances, it was the only available option at this time."

Wentar decides to Lie his way through this one. A Charisma of 5, a rating of 1 with Lying, and +3 from Presence brings us to... a pool of 9! He gets three successes out of that.

Edula narrows her eyes at you.

"May I speak with Viriont?" she asks.

Wentar shakes his head. "Not an option I'm afraid. He's still recovering, as I've said before, the Jedi gave him quite a thrashing. Give him a couple of weeks and I'm sure a meeting could be arranged."

"Unless the Jedi cut out his vocal chords, I am unsure why he would not be able to speak with me via hologram," Edula says, her eyes still narrowed.

"It has less to do with him not being able to talk and more to do with him having trouble staying conscious. Drugs could possibly wake him at this point, but unless it's urgent it's probably better that he's not disturbed."

Edula gives a sly smile.

"Why even keep him alive, then, if he is so despairingly wounded?" Edula says. "You could take all the money if I were to believe you."

Tell him Viriont has friends that would love to avenge him.

"And back-stab a trusted ally," Wentar says distastefully. "We have no intention of betraying Viriont, bad for business."

Edula chuckles.

"You obviously do not know Viriont very well," Edula says, all smiles. "The last crew he put together he murdered so that he could keep all the money for himself. And that's hardly a secret."

"Hell, it happened right here," Harfer snorts. He laughs with her.

"So who are you really?" Edula asks, becoming coldly serious in a snap. Harfer stops laughing abruptly. "You're not just con artists, judging by the fact that you broke bones upstairs in the Feather."
