STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

Is there anything Darcil can do to effect Marl's sentence?

Darcil does not condone shortening the repeat offender's sentence. It is still happening thanks to Windu and Darcil is not happy.

Aye, Wentar wouldn't approve either if it wasn't their only link to Altar/the Slaves. Hmmm, how else can we get a shorter sentence. I'm out of people we can ask.

So it would seem.

What about Wentar or Vlad asking? ... Emso? Aid of the late Senator Farl?

Emso would be a viable angle if he were a more confident speaker. As it is, Senator Darcil comes across as the crotchedy old man type. He is set in his ways and won't budge. You can at least be happy that he's not trying to hide something by doing so.

Yeah, well he has been chairman before. Anyway I think it's better to get to the bottom of one Senators corruption before dealing with another.

Perhaps a representative from Trikistan can help shorten the sentence? In exchange for Wentar's permanent silence on the Farl matter?

Oooh, blackmail from the soon-to-be Renegade. What does Vlad (or even Wentar) make of that?

Emso feels that's rather iffy.

So does Wentar... but at the same time, Wentar feels pretty dirty about hiding Farl's true nature...

I'll need to ponder this from Wentar's perspective for awhile.

Hmmm.... That's a hard one...

That is a very 'Renegade'-ish type of thing to do, which fits well for Wentar. This might be the crossroad which sends Vlad and Wentar to different destinies as Renegade and Jedi, respectfully. Or does that crossroad lie ahead 😕

Well fits well with Wentar several years from now. At this point it's a very strange and alien thing for him. Hell right now he sees this act as a very slippery slope to the Dark Side.

This can be pondered as you get in touch with the Republic embassy and arrange for the freed slaves to be retrieved from Marl's junkyard. Harfer and his flunkies have cleared out by the time they arrive in several ships.

Good to know. We may as well go with them to the Embassy. Perhaps someone should look into those files in Marls office.

So should we just use the name Marl gave us without knowing who exactly it is?

Wont do us much good. For the record I will be going with the blackmail route. Just need to sit down and fill out the 'why'.

Alrighty! Wentar is willing to blackmail the Trikistani to get the info out of Marl.

Wentar feels guilty about Altar's disappearance, he was the one who requested the additional help that lead to Altar's involvement. He also wishes to see the slaves returned, to make up for protecting the man who sent them into slavery. Wentar is on this mission more out of guilt then anything else at this point.

Blackmail seems to be their only lead into finding Altar and the Slaves, it is something he must do. There is no one else who can help them. So Wentar will bite the bullet and do what he has to, if only because no one else will. But he is still uneasy about this, it almost feels like a selfish act to ease his guilt and he knows that is could be a slippery slope into falling to the Dark Side if he doesn't tread carefully from this point on.

More or less, Wentar will use the blackmail, because they are out of ideas and someone has to help these slaves. Wentar will be the one to do it, he will take on the additional guilt to see this mission to it's end.

Vlad doesn't feel right about the blackmailing, but he's ready to be by Wentar's side through this. He's going to keep silent about this shady action.

If our actions are revealed Wentar will take full responsibility for it. He will claim he made the arrangement alone and that Vlad and Emso didn't find out until after wards.

That being said Wentar will go contact the Grand Vizier of Triskatan from the Free Flier. Vlad and Emso can oversee the slave transfer.

You send the message through and get in touch with the Grand Vizier.

"Wentar," he greets. "May I ask what the reason for this call is?"

"Greetings Grand Vizier," Wentar says, his stomach feeling knotted. "I'd like to ask you a favor.

"We've managed to track down a possible lead into finding Altar Vynn and the missing slaves. The problem is to get this information we have to cut a deal with the recently arrested Marl Ademiro. I was hoping you could use your position to help shorten his sentence and allow us to learn his information."

Wentar will try a reasonable approach at first.
