STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

Vlad will sit somewhere in the vicinity, listening to Wentar negotiate.

The Grand Vizier ponders this.

"You seem to believe that I have influence that reaches so far," he says.

"I would believe a person in your position would know of certain people who could aid you in fulfilling this request," Wentar replies.

"That is possible. It would hardly appear well if I were to seek amnesty for a slaver as I am sure you can understand. People might begin to glance too closely at what Farl was..."

"Perhaps," Wentar say. "But surely that is a risk you would be willing to take to see the return of your own people."

The Grand Vizier pauses.

"Do you say so?"

"I would hope so."

"How certain are you?" he asks.

"Certain enough to be unwilling to take no for an answer," Wentar replies.

The Grand Vizier gives you a sly smile.

"I can offer your man full amnesty," he says, "on the condition that he remains a ward of the Triskatani state. He may never leave and will be taken care of. How does that suit him?"

Wentar- you could not have hoped for better! No blackmailing required.

Vlad- all of this irks you. Marl is getting away with an entire life of slaving, one that you were victimized by along with countless others.

Wentar smiles at the idea of not having to use any blackmail. He also believe that, despite Marl being a slaver, he will be forced to go straight while confined on Trikistan. It's not Wentar's favorite decision but in comparison to blackmail it's better then he can hope for.

"I will inform him of your generous offer and transmit his answer to you shortly," Wentar says with a bow. "Thank you for your time."

I had hoped to hear from Vlad before proceeding...

This does greatly unsettle Vlad, as justice is not being carried out accordingly. However, his Jedi training teaches him to keep his emotions in check and stand by Wentar's decision. After all, by letting Marl go with all he has done they will have a chance to shut down many more slavers just like him.

Vlad handles things maturely, then, and Wentar lets Marl know of the Grand Vizier's offer.

Marl laughs heartily. "Full amnesty? I could not have hoped for better! I will tell you what I know of Loj'oon.

"Loj'oon is not your typical slaver; not a brutal guy. Maybe smarter. Anyway. I dunno what he did, but he got in the good graces of the Kylugo Srum somehow. Now he's big news. There's not much more to it than that. I can tell you something that may help you, though...

"Loj'oon started off his career with the Srum as a slave."

Vlad archs his eyebrow(or perhaps tentacle) after hearing the part about Loj'oon starting his career as a slave.

"And how exactly did that happen?"

"Beats me," Marl says. "Draw whatever conclusions you want there. I think it might help you.

"And because I've gotten out the jam you put me in completely... I have a rumor that might help too. Or not. Do you know the name Hanza?"

"I do," Wentar says darkly, a little annoyed but unsurprised to be hearing that name again. "What's this rumor got to do with him?"

Marl smiles unpleasantly, revealing several crooked and chipped teeth.

"He's working for the Srum."

Wentar nods his head. "I thought so," he says, thinking back to his talk with Viriont's lackey. "What's his role inside the Srum?"

"Enforcer. Dunno why they brought him in. He's bad news for EVERYONE, enemies and friends alike."
