STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Chains

Are the mines part of the 'detonate supplies' plan or is that separate?

Part of. Those actually work more strategic; enemy units take damage when they move into an area where you've placed mines.

Right, so I'll be placing them with the supplies then. How many defensive points are there in total?

The 'battlefield' will be arranged like this.

-

BRIDGE

MARKET

UPPER QUARTERS

LOWER QUARTERS

HANGARS

CARGO

MAINTENANCE

-

Each is a conceptual area composed of many floors. Each area has room for four units.

Hmmm, they're starting at the Hangars right?

Due to the maintenance lifts we can move units from the Bridge to the Maintenance area without passing through everything else, yes?

Yes.

Awesome. I'm slowly getting an idea of how things will be done here.

Any units in the hangar area will be vulnerable to the pirates docking ships heavy lasers, yes?

That would be more of a tactical issue. Loj'oon wants you to keep everyone out of the hangars themselves for now. It would be a massacre.

Strategically, it makes no different.

Hmm, I'll avoid the hangars for now then.

I'm not seeing any reference to reserve area's. Does that mean the Artillery will only be useful on it's floor or can it fire into the next area from where it's stationed?

Sorry, I'll be a little more clear.

Loj'oon wants your men to start in the corridors of the Hangar area, so as to oppose the pirates when they land in the hangars and come out into the station. The pirates will be coming from outside the station and moving in. Otherwise, they'll take and hold the Hangars freely.

There are no reserve areas; I just did not edit the rules for the situation. The Artillery can be stationed in an area below or above where you want to support. For example, if you have units in the Hangars area, you can put it in the Cargo or Lower Quarters.

Likewise, falling back will involve moving up or down an area. Retreating from the Hangars will carry you into Lower Quarters, for example.

Right! Yeah it wasn't the rules that threw me off, more the italics in the artillery description that mentioned reserves.

Is there a way we can de-pressurize the hangar without effecting the rest of the station? Force the Pirates to come in in heavy space suits?

A feasible idea, but very risky. The pirates will have to leave the hangars to get to the control station to re-pressurize... meaning cutting through doors and de-pressurizing the entire area.

True... Perhaps maybe I'll have units stationed there first. Since there will be the auto cannons to aid us.

There are also some special rules for your key players and units.

Loj'oon can only be deployed if his private guard is present; if they are taken out during the fighting, he will stay on the Bridge to coordinate.

Hloo'jen can only be deployed if slave units are present. It is his task to organize them, after all.

Having Loj'oon present allows you to re-roll the Outcome of a battle if the result is not satisfactory.

Having Hloo'jen present allows your units to stay put in the event they are forced to Retreat.

Nifty! Means I'll have to keep a close eye on the personal guard.

If the pirates hold the hangar what kind of control will they hold over the station?

Complete freedom to offload more men and supplies into the station, and if something tips them off about the engines, they can start moving there.

During the initial landing, they will not be in any of the areas mentioned above for deployment. They will be coming from 'Space,' and can get at the hangars from up to four sides, depending on how well things go for your starfighters.

That last sentence, can you elaborate?

As for the engines... Does Wentar or Loj'oon know what happened to Hanza?

Yes.

The situation will be handled differently when trying to hold the Hangars area. On the hangar levels, the docking bays ring around three sides of the station (not four, my bad- one side of the station is entirely thrusters). The pirate ships will dock at these three sides and move into the Hangar area.

So, it will look like this.

OUTSIDE EAST ----> HANGAR < ---- OUTSIDE WEST

---------------- ^ OUTSIDE SOUTH ^

The goal for the space fight will be to reduce the number of boarding craft coming at the station. The more you destroy or disable, the less pirates you will have trying to invade the Seat!

Alrighty! So we'll be fighting on three different fronts in the worst case scenario.

"Did Hanza know about your plans with the engines?" Wentar asks.

And Nelgrin?

Editing shennanigans!

-

Exactly.

"I released Hanza and sent him away with everyone else," Loj'oon says. "Nelgrin too."

Loj'oon hesitates when you ask about what Hanza knows.

"... it's possible," he replies.
