Altar and Vlad are shaken.
"What was..." Vlad starts to ask.
"The Dark Side," Altar says, curtly. "The Overseer of the Kylugo Srum is a Dark Jedi?"
"I've never met him," Loj'oon snaps. "I don't know!"
"An issue for another time," Altar sighs. "Right now, we must defend this station. As my student says, you chose wisely. There will be casualties in this fight... but none so great as if the Srum had this mobile station."
Loj'oon nods quietly to himself.
"Prepare the fighters," he says to his aides. "They'll need to launch as soon as the Srum arrive. And ready my ship."
He turns to you.
"Wentar, will you fly out with me?" he asks.
"Considering I was detained with no hope of escape," Altar says, "this has been a reversal of fortune. I intend to vanquish whomever the Srum sends to un-Seat us."
Altar gives a wink.
"I'm all for it," Vlad says. "These slaves are being given a chance to fight for their freedom when they hadn't one before. It's our duty to protect and aid them."
Vlad is more grim. He seems distracted.
Wentar's gaze lingers on Vlad, something still seems off but he just can't put his finger on it.
"You both have good points," Wentar says with a smile, feeling more confident with Vlad and Altar's backing.
"What are your opinions on the unit placement I arranged? There may not be time to reverse it now but I would still like to hear what you would have done in my position."
Vlad has no opinion on it.
Altar feels you should have put your strongest fighters- the pirates- in position to hold the hangar first, and reinforced them with slaves as necessary.
"What you arranged will work," Altar says. "Our leadership and contribution to the fighting will be important regardless of who gets deployed where."
Altar also reminds you that his starfighter is on-board the Seat! He is not quite the pilot you are, having taken the Jack-of-all-trades approach to the Ronin, but it is one more wing to send against the pirates.
Vlad, of course, volunteers to man the Free Flier's turret.
(Remind me, does it only have the one turret?)
The Free Flier is as you left it- refueling and waiting for your return. Obviously your original plans of returning to the ship with a load of slaves and high-tailing it out of here did not happen and the hangar is empty save for yourself and Vlad.
"Do you think we have a chance?" Vlad asks you as you walk up the ramp of your ship together. "Are we going to be able to win this?"
Wentar sighs.
"That's hard to say. The outcome of this battle relies on too many things we don't have control of," he says.
"What the committee's answer will be, how long it will take to get the engines online, how many men the Srum will throw at us. We know none of these, it makes deciding our chances tricky...
"I say that as long as we keep a clear head during the fighting and plan our defenses carefully we have a definite chance of succeeding here. This will be a very hard fought and costly battle though.. for both sides."
