He thinks the fallback position would be better; the hangars are very open and pitting soft, fleshy people against the heavy artillery of pirate gunships sounds less than effective.
There is also a plethora of equipment that Loj'oon has gathered up from the marketplace, things that were left behind.
He wants to put you in charge of their deployment.
It is a custom job. It is a little loose when you put it on. It tightens and adjusts automatically to fit comfortably.
Shortly after, it whirs and the hair on your arm tingles as hazy blue energy emanates from a series of circular vents. It generates an energy field in front of you!
Loj'oon draws one of his pistols and points it at you, causing Altar to go for his lightsaber.
"It's alright," Loj'oon says. "No harm will come to him."
Altar takes his hand off his saber.
"Ready?" Loj'oon asks you.
Loj'oon fires! The bolt pings off of the energy field, which becomes much sharper and solid when the bolt connects. The laser explodes harmlessly on the ceiling.
"Consider it a gift," Loj'oon says.

Rules-wise, the energy shield offers you +1 Parry against attacks by blasters and energy weapons, and also gives you a bonus Reflection.
"I made it," Loj'oon says. "For my master... before I killed him. He never used it. It suits you better."
He reaches over and presses the deactivate switch. The shield dissipates.
"The battery only lasts so long," Loj'oon says. "Too many direct blows will drain it faster, and I have no replacements on hand. Make it last."
