Yeah, if the GM hadn't been so accommodating, I'd agree with this logic. As it is, we're talking about a planet of nothing but vaults. We need the help.
Andro is right, and I will talk this out, but basically there is still a lot they can rule out if you tell them the item must be small. A lot of the larger vaults only contain large items.
It would be extremely difficult to fly a ship out of the vault. You'd also be ready for it.
Ok, so Roan is taking the official route; is anyone else trying something in particular?
Hmmm, what if someone like Gallagher or Vera tired Iffa's 'walk around for instincts to kick in' trick?
Another possibility is to narrow down the list of possible vaults, ask for that list (Not their contents, just the vault numbers) and try that same trick we tried on the interlude. Looking at the list and discovering which one is 'right'.
... Though both these option are cancelled out by 'The Dark Side clouds everything.'
Dark Side does indeed make this an immense pain! Though it does not trump instincts- only senses. The bigger problem is- you late arrivals simply don't have the time to do an Instincts wander.

Well, Roan and- I believe- Xeth are heading to the officials to see what they can do there. You meet, at one of the admin buildings, the same people Iffa met earlier. One is a local- a wasp-like creature that emits a constant agitated buzzing- and the other is a human that is his aide and speaks for him.
"Greetings, master Jedi!" he says. "We were informed another deputation was coming. This must be quite the manhunt you are undertaking, to justify such numbers!
"We've been giving thought to some of your access requests, so we've called in one of our lawyers to see what we cn and cannot sort out in the circumstances. He's just inside one of the conference rooms, if you would care to come this way?"
You vaguely wonder why a conference room rather than an office or the like, but that question is soon answered.
"Ah, Jezed," says the aide, walking in. "Here are the Jedi I was talking about."
"Hmmm," says Jezed, lazily, which will be the only noise he makes that requires no translation. He stares at you impassively with large eyes, apparently nto really caring much about who you are.
I should probably mention- he is a Hutt.
Bleh... Wentar has poor observation anyway.
There's aren't any bars here for Wentar to be all social in either...
What about hotels/motels? Katai has to be living here somewhere. Maybe we could work on pinning that location down?
This planet is suppose to be a mostly vault world, and the residence of the natives aren't easily accessed by off-worlders to my understanding so there has to be separate designated areas for people visiting. Maybe close to the Starport that Katai arrived in since she'd probably not want to waste time looking for a place to live hen she'd rather steal this thing asap.
I guess I'm going to be the one doing the talking.
"We are here on a hunt for a dangerous criminal. Her name is Kara Katal and we have good reason to believe that she is here to steal something from one of the vaults. We wish to gain access to the system so we can find which vault she is attempting to steal from and stop her."
