They are very happy to show you the contracts- but as you predicted, you'd need Law to make something of them.

The Courts do tend to expedite things when the Jedi request them... but only relatively. They are indeed dead slow; the warrants you got for the pirates at the start of the episode took days.

Jedi can act unilaterally if they believe that the public is at risk- but you had better be damn certain about it. Or have a Senatorial ally to back you in the investigation that follows.

Hmmm, Jovan has a contact in the Senate. Could he help us here? Either by understanding the legal documents or by putting pressure on these guys to give more access.

No, a Contact just gives you info; he doesn't intercede on your behalf.

Right! That'd be ally... oh well.

You know after this dealie with Mr. Hutt Lawyer and that encounter with Nostrum, Wentar is starting to consider trying to learn the legal system...

"If you cannot give us the names of the Vault owners, then how about giving us the physical locations of those vaults," Wentar suggests once he realizes he can't understand a damn thing in those legal contracts.

"Well, I am sure I can manage something..." says the aide, h's eyes flicking over to Jezed. Jezed does not move.

The Telanian buzzes agitatedly.

"Yes, I thought so," says the aide. "You say the object is small? For a variety of reasons, we catalogue collections of small items differently from single large items; the Telanians have very precise ideas about appropriate environments. We can rule out areas of the Repository that contain only large items."

"That would be very helpful. It would give us a smaller area in which to monitor."

Well, they will do that. What other ideas did you have?

I have one!

Katai has a habit of steal from places with many items, so she can destroy everything and leave us clueless. So we're probably looking for vaults that aren't just single items, perhaps even a dozen items at minimum.

(True, but I think it was mentioned that she'd probably also go for somehow destroying the records of what's in the vault. Which she would do first, by the way. THAT could be an angle on catching her. Watch the computer network, if anyone knows how. If she didn't do this, then we'd have our first record of what was at the site of the theft. Maybe a clue could be taken from reading what she could have taken. She's so thorough, I don't think she'd risk that.)

(Maybe they keep backups of the records? Still, thanks for reminding me Andro!)

"We also have concerns that Katai intends to destroy you vault records to prevent us from knowing anything about what she took," Wentar says. "I reccomend you back up your records now and keep them secure until we deal with Katai."

"Well that process takes seventeen weeks," he says. "But they are all backed up anyway."

"How are your records kept?" Xeth asks, "and how do you keep your back-ups?"

"It's a crystalline based computer system; the Telanians are very particular about it."

"Kara is very particular about not leaving a trace of what she's taken," Xeth says. "Not only will she want to destroy the site that she takes from and surrounding vaults, but she'll want to take out the records as well."

"Well, I hear what you say..." says the aide.

"Do you have both the records and their back-ups securely protected?" Xeth asks. "If not, addition Jedi security may be necessary. I trust that doesn't break any rules?"

"Obviously it is all protected," he says.

"How do you protect them?" Xeth asks.

"Like all our facilities, with a considerable security force."

"They won't be enough," Xeth says.
