Alright, Defensive circle is a good thing.
Also Don't forget about Force Attacks. If you have Combat Push, or Bombard, don't neglect them. It might make the difference.

Since I'm armed with the Machete, and have some powers I'm gonna use em!

Impervious
Whirling Strike

Put those in for me please!

I'm in the centre but I can use bombard normally

(Impervious/Dodge and Waeave/Feint
Let's have wings for dinner!)

Xeth's down with that plan. He'll help form the outer defensive circle.

Whirling Strike, Feint, and Duck in, if you'd please. I'm hoping that these birdies are mooks, but I have a feeling they're not.

Probably the best we're going to come up with. We should move away from the Merongam corpses, in case they're attacking us for getting near their food.

With the formation you have chosen, this is a pretty straightforward fight. The birds- known as bior- are not super-tactical and so despite the air advantage, more of then will try to shred the outer ring to death than the inner one.

These machetes are not good enough killing weapons for a * rating, but they do allow the use of armed schticks.

Those without a Combat skill (denoted by a * by their pool) need 6s to hit. The bior are mooks, but in numbers, for sure.

Barring fancy stuff, the important thing is to leave me in no doubt as to whether you are making an armed strike or not.

Vlad will arm himself with his two machetes and go in with...

TWIN WEAPONS
DODGE AND WEAVE
WHIRLING STRIKE

Looks like I guessed that right...

Anyone lacking Combat schticks that specialize in melee weapon use should go barehanded for this.

Gallagher will try his hand at hitting one of the bior with his machete, feeling not-at-all confident in his ability to do so.

Xeth will launch himself at one of the bior, slashing one of its wings to ribbons before inflicting a grievous wound to its ribcage.

D'an has Balanced Guard going?

Vera-Kin attacks a bior as it descends on her.

If Jelena can attack a bior that is going for Essallin, she will.

How much damage do machetes inflict? Do they have a * rating?

(points above)

And nope, correcting now!

Oops! Missed that. In that case, Jelena will tell Essallin to combine her efforts with her Master's; they'll take one bior at a time together, going after biors that are attacking the Padawan.

I think Gallagher will follow that idea, attacking the bird creatures with D'an to increase their chances of striking down birds.

We might want someone who can actually fight to join us shortly...

I will make an Armed Strike on of of the Blors...

Wentar will make a barehanded attack on one of the Biors.

(Andro will take on one, and instruct Argo to do the same.)

"Argo, take them down one-by-one. Watch out for those in the middle if you can, but call out if you need help yourself!"

Twirling both machetes Vlad agilely steps up to the nearest Bior and slashes at it, hoping to cause some serious damage.

Just a note- I did ask specifically for people to say if they were attacking with the machete or not. Some of you did not do that. Bad players! Go to the back of the class!

-

4-5... initiative is theirs I am afraid!

The bior attack! No subtle, careful fight this. his is a panicked and confused fight of razor sharp beaks and teeth, whirling around you in a spray of feathers and blood as both sides strike. No-one has time for a careful, well-planned attack- it is desperate whirling with your machetes as you rely on your instinct to land a hit, or even trying to wrestle one out of the air and break its neck quickly. There's no real opportunity to cover others or target beyond the results of your formation.

Some of your defences hold up well, with Andro and Roan looking very solid. Of the inner group, Jovan has the lucky rolls for this turn.

Good strikes immediately are needed to get those numbers down. In that respect, we have good news- the outer ring managed a wipeout, with every single one of you scoring a kill (some of you on your last die rolled).

In the inner ring, a niftily rolling Vera gets a kill, whilst the rest of you get another between you, with only D'an contributing nothing.
