Vera-Kin examines the carcass of a Merongam, then looks skyward.
"Birds did this to the Merongam," Vera-Kin says. "Scavengers, likely. At least we know what awaits us if we get trampled in a stampede ourselves. Our bones will be picked clean."
She smiles.
"We must watch for the creatures that spooked the Merongam, the birds that ate the Merongam, and the Merongam themselves, then."
Did the Atrii have any problem with us using other weapons against anything besides the Merongam? I can see blasters being very nifty against scavenger birds if they cause us problems.
Otherwise, Xeth votes we move on. We've learned that these things can get spooked, so we'll want to tread lightly once we've found them. We also found out about the birds and that something possibly spooked the Merongam (if it wasn't the birds themselves).
"We lingered too long!" Xeth shouts. "Now it's an issue of whether or not we make it to the Merongam at all!"
Xeth draws his machete unhappily, wishing he had his sonic blaster and multi-purpose grenade launcher to handle these pesky birds.
He will also try to make out what they look like and what parts of the birds they should avoid being pecked/clawed by.
Okay, we need to arrange into a defensive ring a la the Geonosis arena. Those who are not well with Combat or completely useless with it should be at the ring's center. No doubt the birds can get aerial attacks in from above, but it is better than having us in a crazed, messy mass.
Inside being protected:
Gallagher/D'an
Jelena/Essallin
Jovan
Vera-Kin
Outside forming defensive ring:
Roan/Sunda
Vlad
Andro/Argo
Denzral
Xeth
Wentar
Some of you have schticks that might make you better just fighting barehanded. Xeth, Vlad, and Roan are the only ones with schticks relating to using a melee weapon.
(So, how big are these thong? Are we swatting at sparrows or vultures or worse? I like the defensive ring, hopefully it helps us cover each other and stay together. However, as mentioned, I'm sure the birds can attack whomever they please, so people in the middle are still active fighters. So, how does one fight birds? Hack away?)
