Ok, well, as you guys have the map, you're not just randomly picking directions, which is good! The way down to black, however, is not entirely clear, so you are really looking at routes covering likely areas. Choose from the following:
1. A lengthy route going through a lot of twisty narrow passages and difficult climbs
2. A shorter route but one that goes through many more areas that were never mined, meaning there is going to be far less light
3. A detour around the sides, leading through several large and open areas.
Here are my thoughts on the three options:
1. Being the lengthy route with the difficult climbs, if we get stuck in here too long we may end up getting stuck in fights with trogs again and again and again before we even get to Black. Least favorite.
2. Galder likes the fast and easy route. The problem is less light means more trogs. More to fight but for less time?
3. Open areas would be beneficial to those of us weighed down with equipment, but it probably means the trogs can get at us from all angles. The first two sound more narrow.
I like option 2 best, 3 second best, 1 least.
Everyone should do the same, share your thoughts on the options so we can decide as a group.
I think 3 evens the playing field a bit for us in respect of movement space. If the trogs attack they'll still be coming at us from the narrower tunnels thus reducing the amount attacking at any one time - I hope.
2 may mean we just blast our way through and just take chances and loses as we go. I'm thinking damage limitation by view of reduced time being attacked.
1 I think is simply suicide, no room to move/fight or escape quickly.
I like 1, it probably means that large groups can't pounce on us, which is our problem usually. I mean any of our fighters can take a trog alone. We'd have the advantage of the Battle of Thermopylae. However the air could easily become an issue there.
Not a fan of 2, if we had some light source, sure, but most of us aren't that force feely and the ones that are are useless in a fight.
3 could lead to a large fight, which we may not be in the best condition to take care of.
I'd vote for 1. 3 would be alright. Don't like 2 so much..
1 might be a decent option, then. We'll be in tight quarters, and though the trogs can climb walls, I think it'll mean less attackers in general. We get mobbed whenever we go into big open areas. Tighter quarters might play into our favor.
Otherwise we could be getting mobbed AND having trogs drop on our heads.
All three of them suck.
1, the longest one, is out. We cannot waste time. The longer it takes us the worse off we'll be for the rest of the mission. Not to mention the difficulty of traversing the terrain is going to mean the less physically able of us waste our time climbing or getting through narrow areas.
2 would be best, if only we had a light source. As it is... I dunno. Short is attractive, but I see no way to reasonably defend if we're attacked in pitch black.
3... I instinctively do not like wide open areas. We will get surrounded and mobbed and waste time and health fighting massive amounts of trogs. And we won't be able to force our way through because we have useless tagalongs. But... we'll also have the best mobility for the inevitable fight.
Can anyone think of a way to see in 2? If not, gonna have to go with 3 as the least horrible.
