Meanwhile, much as Edna is terribly busy in real life right now, it is time to bring Edana into things...
-----
Edana has been dreaming.
She often dreams, of course- the Orphan picks up vibes from the Force very easily. But whilst her power is strong- especially over physical things- her control over the delicarte parts of the Force is weak. She barely understands what she dreams of, even if she remembers it.
Often she acts by instinct alone. It must have been this that got her out the civilised galaxy and away from the death squads of the Bureau. You aren't sure how much you minded. Society had difficulty accepting you at the best of times- you came from nothing, so you had nothing to lose. But weren't you meant to be going for something bigger?
You certainly would have had no truck messing around in an area of space like The Treganna Void, a great expanse of space known for the 'Void' of dense particulate matter within that blocks line of sight- from the Republic, it just looks like a gap in space, hence the term 'void' It's more than just a cosmetic issue; any ship trying to leave hyperspace in the Void is immediately shredded to pieces.
Still, take the long way around the edges of the Void and you can find inhabitable systems beyond, and some centuries ago a bunch of pirates did just that and settled what is now a small empire outside the Republic. As befits an Empire descended from pirates, it is harsh, brutal and exploitative of its population. Its current Emperor, Rivas, is as megalomaniac as they come, regularly making broadcast declarations of his power and skill to the galaxy at large. You doubt there is a single person anywhere in the area of space you would have any interest in meeting.
Except for that dream. You dreamt of an army- a very special army indeed. Not a standing army or security force. A great army of conquest. There was something very very special about that army too- except you don't remember what it is.
Two things stood out in your dream though. First... you should find that army. For whatever reason, you have to find it. It is part of something important. Unfortunately, you had no idea whose army it was or where, which gives you the whole galaxy to search.
But the second thing was the other person you dreamt of- who is also looking for the army. You'd recognise him anywhere. Galder Starkiller.
Surely he must be dead by now? You heard that Kuylen and all of his followers vanished out the galaxy, the Jedi at their heels, and that was that. You didn't go with them. You never found out what happened. You just knew it was... wrong.
So, you looked into him. Some vague rumours- something about a dust up with The Golden Serpent, a criminal organisation. Something else about a robbery on a planet named Newhaven. They all SOUNDED like the type of thing he got up to.
You started poking around on worlds domnated by the Serpent trying to get a better line on things... and that's where you heard the weirdest rumour you ever got. Apparently- and were it not the Force, you never would have believed it- the rumour is that Galder, and a bunch of other desperadoes, got arrested in the Treganna Void worlds for... get this- trying to save the population from Rivas' punitive taxation scheme. He knocked over a tax collector- a big position under Rivas- in the name of the people.
It's mad and it makes no sense... but somehow it feels right and the rumour is recent. So you've hitched a lift around the Void to the planet Selene where all this is meant to have happened.
It takes you five seconds to hate this place. It's like Hutt Space, only more hick-ish, and you only just stepped out the starport when someone has propositioned you from a nearby alley...
