He also seemed pretty dead after LoZ, but was very capable of returning in AoL. LttP is a prequel to LoZ according to every official source.

Not only that, but the story in the older games needs updating. The guys designing classics just didn't have the technology or the state of mind to give a clear representation on what happened to Ganon when he was defeated. None of those little "after I got stabbed in the face" cutscenes like in OoT were there to fill us in on the story.

He didn't have the Triforce of Power, and hence, no immortality.
That's a popular belief, anyway...

For the record I never said Link and Ganon were the most powerful, I said they were some of the most powerful. Sure there are some characters who can beat them but their triforce enhanced powers make them quite powerful oppnents.

The fact that he needed links blood isn't the issue here, its the fact that he can come back making death meaningless to him.
