Uh, Second play-through currently has me using Samurott, Boldore (trying to turn it into a Gigalith, but nobody is available to help), Escavlier, and a Litwick that I'm training up since my others are such a higher level currently. I'll start using Zekrom when I get to him.
So many I want to use though. Next time I go through I'm planning on using an Emolga.

Even Vanilluxe is a badass, despite it being arguably the blandest-looking Pokeymans evar created.

Anyway, I must admit the pokemon grew on me as I played. Orginnaly I thought they all sucked but now I like most of them. Except the snow cones and gears. I also really want a Hydreigon but getting Deino to such a high level will be an immense chore... And probably not worth it.
Actually, if you plan on beating anything after the Elite 4, getting something to level 64 isn't much of a chore at all. Second time for the Elite 4 gives them all level 71s and a 73, while the champ and another person get straight 75s. Everyone else has stuff in the 60s.
Less rivalry in this game. You have your two friends who you battle frequently, neither are bad. But the one I'd call the Rival I can't speak for. By the time I got to him I was way overleveled.

Reallly? What level were your pokemon? I was way underleveled my highest poke was a lvl 52 Druddigon.

And yeah, I don't think I'll ever like the gears pokemon either, ares.
To be honest I just don't understand everyone's taste in characters. So maybe you guys would like the last guy,the one I thought of as the closest thing to a rival. His name is N. He's a horribly mislead badguy too. Like Silver.
Of course, your friend Cheren is pretty rivaly too. But N comes much closer to the typical antagonist type.
He's probably more mislead than Silver.

From an early age, Ghetsis stuck him in a room in a castle with all kinds of toys and junk that kids like. Ghetsis introduced him to Pokemon, but only Pokemon that had been hurt or abused by people. Now he thinks of all Pokemon as his friends and wants to get Trainers to release all of their Pokemon, because he can't see any good in people.N was basically bred to become the person that he is under false pretenses.
Silver just treated his Pokemon like shit because they were only good for battling or something.
I doubt I captured it the way it's presented well enough, so I recommend actually playing the game. Lest you be held to a standard as low as the one I am held to.
With you not being the only one to have that sort of opinion about B/W, I suppose that kinda says a lot. I'm sure they may perhaps very well be one of my favorite versions, besides the awesome remakes. Might even replay Heart Gold not too long before I have the extra money again to get this with that said, just to ensure that it sinks in and all. Pokemon 4 life.
