Oil spill continues to grow

Didn't that "top fill" method fail and they've stopped it now by capping it with massive weights?

Either way, I don't fully buy it.

Why did it take then so long?

It's the deepest well in the world and oil wells have various safeties on them to shut down the well if something happens (it's not usually assumed that the entire rig will be destroyed) so they're not really experienced with other methods.

That's not inventive enough. 😉 We don't know what the hell we are doing is the fall back excuse. Are we there already?

If the Republicans were in power, there would be a lot more inventive reasons why they failed. 😉

The most inventive reason I've heard is that environmentalists set up the whole thing and have presumably been delaying the clean up.

I agree but capitalism seems to be based on it.
And greed, don't forget greed.

I see the apocalpyptic predictions have ground to a halt as, once again, it turns out that the effect of this was blown out of all proportion.

Fear mongering seems to be a media favorite: increases viewer/readership so they can charge more for commercial time/space.

I haven't heard or read much about the apoco. hype beyond KMC because I don't watch the news or read it online from major news sources.

I believe the industry phrase is, "If it bleeds, it leads."

What happens if there are two bleed stories? AHA! 😆

Larger pool of blood wins?

Topic comment: I read in yesterday's NY Times that the BP oil spill is now officially the largest of its kind, ever.

Everytime someone used to say this was the largest in US history, I always wondered, where/when the hell was there something worse than this? Seems now there wasn't.

In order:

Whitest
Youngest
Most female

So, is this fixed now?

No. Because BP are the biggest failures ever to walk the earth.

What if it cost less then 20 billion to clean up and pay everyone off? Should the left over money go back to BP?

It isn't, so I don't feel like that's a productive question.

would all the animals be brought back to life or will ppl be able to continue on as if it never happen?

Then what should happen to the money left over? Should we let politicians split it among themselves?

The oil spill is dissipating on its own, therefore the damage may not be as bad as was first estimated.
