i want to move to canada too.. but, i wouldnt know how to start all over again or what i would do how much it cost to become a citizen.. basically i am too lazy its my american traits that keeps me from moving to canada

its too cold there

and i wouldnt want a polar bear to just randomly walk into my house! D=

See I'm working on my major in Philosophy and Sociology, one of the most useless degrees ever unless I want to teach.

Canadian profs seem to be better off even given the differences in currency.

isnt that alaska?

also i love the cold.. in a set limit of cold.. walking around shirtless during winter chasing and playing with my wolf dog while he hides in the snow and starts to hunt me... man that is freedom

Plus they don't believe in creationism in Canada, that's pretty cool too.

Gotta be better than 44% of the population believing that everything came about 6000 years ago.

It nearly ruined the political career of one of our politicians when he mused that he might believe that

(which, imho, someone can be a good political leader and be crazy religious, as long as they arent getting answers from prayer, you know?)

get the proper liscences

they mail you fines, then they mail you your liscence suspension

pay your taxes

EDIT: and it wouldn't be the RCMP, probably just some local guys who would knock politely unless you threatened them or something...

More or less. Also, it would set a bad precedent if citizens were allowed to do anything in order to correct alleged infractions.

As you pointed out, it's equally illegal for government and private citizens, so that would also apply that people should be able to stop private citizens from flying flags wrong, something that is totally illegal.

You don't seem to draw a line or be able to separate government and private.

They are different, not the same.

It's just speculation, really, but, do you think you would get in trouble for adjusting the flags to their correct positions at a public school? Even if you initially got in trouble...do you think you would, eventually, be in legal trouble? (Meaning, after things are legally settled.)

I think that incorrect flag use is a crime agaisnt nature. I think it's every man and woman's civil responsibility to correct it whenever it is seen.

When you see those athletes wrapping themselves in the US flag after winning.. it makes me sick. How could they treat the beloved flag that way? Granted... It's not quite as horrendous as the flag being at the wrong height... Heaven forbid... that crime is right up there with genocide.

Oh wait..... It's just a flag.... It's NOTHING but a symbol. 😐

A flag's purpose is for identity and signalling, nothing more... Treating it as anything more important is just silly. This is not to say that you can't cause offence by waving it in someone's face (aka the OP),

I'm glad people continue to serve in the military so people like you can pretend like you don't give a damn about your nation. It's very comforting. 🙂

What's wrong with not giving a damn about one's nation?

I'm not pretending I don't give a damn about my nation... I just don't really care if someone wants to mistreat the flag.

The Union Flag is rarely seen in the UK and the St. George's Cross only really appears around the World Cup. We don't f*ck our flags here, that's not to say we don't give a damn about the country.

Nothing at all. Just as long as there are those that do, people can continue to not give a damn. 🙂

You mocked me and then agreed with everything I was saying in your second paragraph. Forgive me for not taking your post seriously and, in kind, replying with more jesting. 🙂

I wasn't even replying to you, so how could I be mocking you.... I was just replying to the thread as a whole.

Don't flatter yourself in to thinking that I pay you that much attention.

Anyone that supported correct flag display, you would be mocking, even if you did not have one particular person in mind. Nice try. 🙂

In that respect you are correct... Although I feel that they deserve to be mocked.

Flags are great..... For sporting events, government and the armed forces... That is it.

The question being asked shouldn't be "Should you be allowed to alter the flag within a school"... It should be "Why the hell does a school have a flag?"

Have American's got such a short memory that they forget which country they are in and need to be reminded every 5 seconds?
