Because BioWare has taken George's heavy inclusionist tendencies to ridiculous levels. I.e. fans will enjoy it more if you namedrop as much as possible and, even better, shoehorn major characters from the era in as much as you can.

I'd make a bad Sith as well. I have no interest in ultimate power and I'm not a psychotic killing machine. I don't like wearing spikes, and I'm not into tattoos or being bald.
