Thor vs Void Sentry

Started by bbrem12348 pages

read the caption in senry the fallen sun...it say that the helicarrier made it so bob regain control...which is why he reverted back...and then it says he wanted to die so thor killed him

then when u later read strange talking about sentry...he says that sentry gave more then his life...he gave up the power a god for the sake of us all. he allowed us to forget him all over again.

even tho void regain control it still doesnt change the fact that if bob wants to die then he will die...he is the host of the void...so if he dies the void cant manifest anymore

To answer your question Carver, the thread isn't closed because:

- After Siege 4, we needed a thread where spoilers were noted in the title. People were discussing the comic just hours after it came out Wednesday.

- There has been robust debate for both Void and Thor.

- The poll is neck and neck.

- And I started this thred! durfist

Shokosugi, stop with your goofy posts.

That caption supports my stance more than it does yours. Here is what it says:

"Fully unleashed, The Void assaulted the assembled heroes. As a last ditch effort, Iron Man brought the H.A.M.M.E.R. Helicarrier down on The Void like a massive bullet. Regaining his senses, Bob begged to be killed. And when the Void seized control again, Thor finally ended the troubled life of Bob Reynolds."

Like I said, Bob regained control for a moment but then the Void reestablished itself as the dominant personality. Reynolds had enough control to ask to be killed again but that's about it, and Thor knowing he had no choice, killed him.

That part was referring to the original mini and not to Siege.

Reynolds didn't have the control needed to kill himself etc. Hence why he asked to be killed. He wasn't the dominant personality anymore, it was the Void who was in control. Thor's onslaught and the explosion just knocked the Void for a bit of a loop.

That's my understanding.

no it wasnt it sentry didnt die in that series...he says we almost lost him taht day...let me look again tho

it says bob regained his senses after the explosion

It says "when the Void seized control".😛

you are also ignoring the fact that bob dies when he truly wants to....shown in DA

Then that's your interpretation.

Thor isn't exactly interchangeable with Le Fay.

It is indeed and it is simpler and more parsimonious as well.

Bu then it's not the fact that mjolnir is magical per se that can account for the void not reforming.

doesnt change the fact that bob wanted to die...and thats why there was a crispy bob after thors attack

bob is the host...void cant be there if bob decides it time for himself to die

But the void asks to die too. And as had been stated earlier Sentry could only die when he really wanted to.

Can someone translate the first part for me? I don't understand what you mean. Are you somehow suggesting that the part where Tony Stark states he gave up more than his life etc. is in reference to Siege and not the first mini?

It says that Bob regained his senses. I quoted it word for word in that sentence.

i dont kno if that was really the void saying it...i think it was still bob talking...he just couldnt control his actions...kind like when void was talking to sentry when he tried to fly into the sun

Or if someone waaaaaaaaay more powerful than Void/Sentry wanted him dead. Like Thor maybe.

sorry im typing crazy today lol...ok yes it says that he regained control. he then sees what he did and wants to die. thor can obviously do damage to void even if it doesnt really hurt him. But he just didnt regenerate this time because bob truly wanted to die. As it was clearly stated in DA that sentry can only die when he truly want to.

wait i thought it was strange talking...i have to look back tho at that part...i thought strange says they almost lost sentry that day... meaning he didnt die...and after that he talks about sentrys death(at least i think)...let me check again tho

That's what I've been saying all along.

Bob wanted to die and had enough control left to ask them to kill him but that's it. He didn't have any more control than that, hence why the Void was attacking the heroes.

If he couldn't control his actions, how would he be able to control his powers to the point he could be killed? Reynolds himself is pretty clueless at times.

i completely agree with this...the only thing that i think we disagree on here is that u think thor killed him due to the amount of damage void has been taking...and im saying it was due to bob wanting to die. all im saying is the only way for void to be put down for good is if bob wants to die..othewise he will just regenerate

Reynolds has wanted to die for some time but he has never had the control to do so. More so know because the Void is the dominant personality.

Reynolds wanted to die but couldn't do it. Not with the Void in control, so he asked the better and more powerful man to do what he can't. Hence him groveling at Thor's feet. 😉

My mistake, it was Strange. He and Stark are drawn similarly in this issue. Huh? Are you talking about this part?

Okay, then I guess we will have to just agree to disagree until more info is brought to light or until Bendis clarifies.

I just don't think Reynolds had the necessary control at that point to allow himself to die.
