Wow, what a piece of dog shit this was. Oh well, this is exactly why "Transformers: Prime" exists: To give a level of entertainment that Bay will never understand, let alone listen to.

I'm not even reviewing this movie. 1/5, and that's being generous.

Just got back from seeing it. Ughhhhh! I went to see it with low expectations after the 2nd one which I would give a 1/10. This one I would give it a 3 out of 10. Spoilers ahead.!!!!! I like the first little bit with the ship on the moon. With the exception of how they used the dark of the moon(stupid). I just didn't like the way it was put together. Can someone explain to me when they fired up the portal thing and brought the deceptions to earth, where did they come from? Were they on the moon?? That's what it looked like to me. And that is retarded! Also the flight suit thing it was cool but them flying through damaged building retarded. Very little interaction between transformers. And the plan for the government is to get rid of the autobots?? I'll probably end up trying to mix this on with the 2nd. I could go on but what's the point. Don't see this just watch the first one and be done with it.

They made it look more like a comedy than an action movie from the till the end of the movie. Honestly I think they went overboard with the 50 ft anaconda robot digging down into the ground in and out destroying the city. to much scifi with the flying around as well.

People need to stop being so harsh on these movies. Yes, Michael Bay is the only person alive who can introduce a new character by having a close up of her ass before showing her face, but I went into the movie expecting stuff like that and wound up enjoying it a lot. As far as I'm concerned, this movie had the best CGI and action sequences I've ever seen.

People aren't harsh ENOUGH. There was nothing about this movie I enjoyed, and I actually left bitter, and that never happens.

You shouldn't have to lower your expectations just because a director is being incompetent.

I do not feel the same way at all. If I knocked you down, got in your face, and slammed a bunch of pots and pans into your ears and made funny faces, that would make more sense than what I saw today.
The CGI was great, but it was used for a million and one robots that looked exactly the same. When they fight, I honestly have no clue what is going on, because they all look exactly the same and are covered in random explosions. The action is awful for me because the cameraman cannot keep the camera straight to save his life. Thus, everything that happens is almost entirely indistinguishable from the last scene.

I'm tired of people going "Well, what'd you expect?" I expected a competent movie from something that is so bad it even can't get the 'action' aspect right. Not to mention NO ROBOTS FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF. It's called "Transformers," not "Humans." And if you are going to do that, at least give me characters I give a rat's ass about instead of joke setups with legs.

It was pretty bad. There were probably 8-10 moments where my brow furrowed a bit and I thought "Really? Really?!" at the plot or dialogue. I had way more cringes than laughs or awed expressions. The dialogue was not funny, the acting was either bad (the girl, Dr. McDreamy) or over-acted like some cheesy B-list film...John Turturro (normally awesome, here forcing it), Malkovich, etc. And shouldn't extraterrestrial robots be above phallic humor and racial slurs? Broke my suspension of disbelief numerous times. And if anyone tries to use the "they got their lingo from the internet and..." excuse, please just ask yourself if it's needed, useful, or entertaining in any context for those over 16. And if anyone just wants to drool over the girl, google some pics of her when she was a model. Actors, however, need to act.

They also ripped the plot straight from a Doctor Who special, right down to some specific elements of it. Just sub out Optimus, Megatron, Sentinel, Dempsey for the Doctor, the Master, Rassilon, and "anonymous rich black dude" respectively, and you're done.

Leonard Nemoy had the only funny line of the film, and it was some 4th-wall style humor that only a select group would get. Or maybe when the girl was giving the camera a blowjob while explosions went off everywhere...people kinda chuckled, rightly so. From a general appeal standpoint though, I can't recommend this to anyone.

It was better than the 2nd (which isn't saying anything), and I enjoyed the first. This whole franchise is a shame now, I love Transformers.

They always mess up the 3rd film in action movies. they go over board with the sci fi cause they want to show something new and different.

I can let Jet Fire from the 2nd movie as well as afew others that turned into jets that were flying around. but that huge space ship that was a decepticon was just a little over board. yeah I know they come down from space and all that. but would have liked it more if they kept the action more at ground level.

and at the end where bumble bee transforms back into the Camaro for the last time after the war is over, not one Freacking scratch on the car. I mean come on now.

they made him look all shiny and mint condition at the end like he just drover out of an auto show.

I'm not saying this was a great movie. I'd probably give it a 6/10, but I seriously have to disagree with you about the action scenes. I was completely blown away by them. The shot during the freeway chase when Sam gets thrown out of the car and then bumblee grabs him and transforms back was incredible. And I'd agree with you about getting confused during the action scenes in the first two films, but not this one. Michael seemed to pull the camera back a lot more during the fights so you could see everything.

Just my opinion though

There were transformers throughout the entire movie. The human characters have to be their so we can relate to them and care for them. Whether Michael did a good job at that is questionable.... but a 2 hour movie with just robots would actually be even worse. Trust me.

OMG

I can believe there's people that overanalyze Transformers

I loved it!

a least the plot made some sense, unlike the second one.

Best TF movie so far! Best CGI this year and Most BadAss explosions so far

Made me forget about my problems for at least 2 and a half hours and enjoyed some popcorn, that's all that matters to me

... anyone else can suck it!

I doubt it

that recent game War For Cybertron not one human character and it was hit Transformers game.

And all of this pales to utter insignificance in light of the fact that Michael Bay had

Spoiler:
Ironhide slaughtered like a pig
and that not a single character seemed to give a damn about that.

Hell, even some random new characters were killed off and got more mourning than him.

Those were not even cameos. They were pretty much nonexistent until that last part.

Problem is that I don't. They were awful characters that I never felt attached to in any way, shape, or form.

My first instinct is to explain the flaws in this, but I'll just put this picture up instead.

And if that's not enough, then this.

Or even this baby.

I can watch "Prime" and "Beast Wars" for hours and never, ever get bored. Why? Because it's not about not having humans. It's about having real characters you care about, appearance or species being trivial.

IGN quote:

It took a terrible sequel to make Bay realise where his focus should be in this series, and in a way I'm glad it took that, because the end result is, in my opinion, the best film in the Transformers series. By hiring a different writer to pen the script, one that adheres a little more to the plot of the original cartoon series, Bay acknowledged the problems that lead to Revenge of the Fallen being such a disappointment. This time, the movie had an actual plot with enormous 'end of the world-level' stakes that guaranteed it would be the most epic entry in the series yet. While some annoying factors (like unnecessary comedy relief characters) remained, Dark of the Moon was a more focused, more comprehensible affair in every regard.

Bay's use of 3D also ended up working to its advantage. Not only does the film have the most impressive live-action use of 3D since Avatar, the technology forced Bay to steady his camera movements for a change, actually allowing us to get a clear view of the action, which could be downright dizzying in the last two Transformers films. We also got to see Optimus Prime be the bad-ass he should have been from the beginning. You did well Mr. Bay. While many are not ready to forgive you, at least you gave it your all this time.

🙂

I lol during the freeway chase scene cause at one point they took a scene right from the island movie they just replaced the train wheel with a transformer. And nimoy's line "the good of the many" was sacralage. That cgi was good and the action was good just too much of it. Was that anaconda thing part of shockwave?? I would of loved to see him at cybertron like in the cartoon. If new York had built the wtc like that building it would of never fallen, strongest building I have ever seen. Once the group gets across the river and meet the seal team (that just popped out of the river) and go to the base of the building and they meet up with another group of soilders in camo that came out of no where wtf was that. Also the transformers seem to disappear for a while at the end. There was no sign of megatron or prime for a long while and then all of a sudden bumble bee amd the rest are captured. WTF??
The first movie had the right balance of character interaction amd action this just had action. I would like to see a good conversation between megaton sound wave and starscream. And the autobots too. Micheal bays track record is still 2 good movies and 3 bad so the next movie he does after this will still suck balls.

Overanalysis has nothing to do with it. If you don't enjoy a movie, it's probably bad. The "averanalyzing" is just explaining why. I'm glad you enjoyed it though.

Too few people having standards for movies beyond some expensive effects.

srug

This movie didn't have enough action, which is why all those plothole inconsistencies were there. If we had seen those navy seals fighting their way into the river or sneaking into it, it would have made sense to have them pop out there, if we'd seen the autobots getting captured, it would have made sense to show them as POW's, etc etc.

Instead, we get a whole lot of Shia Lebouf's whiny ***** ass and his useless plot with the rich car dude, and that CIA ***** etc etc.

There were simply too many subplots and too many new characters for what is supposed to be a trilogy finale.

You know, I can say intellectually this was a BETTER film than Revenge Of The Fallen, but ROTF was more fun.
(Yes, I managed to ignore most of what other critics hated about ROTF, and just enjoyed the spectacle with a silly grin on my face.)
