i was thinking the same thing as i watched the ep.
it must be a massive number (at least 100), because Rick and co. just merc'd at least 20 people. For the saviors to be a legit threat, their numbers are great or they just have some badasses on their side.
Also, are those people who have Carol and Maggie even with Negan?

Maybe a fan of the books can answer this for me- but how many people does negan have under his command in the books? how many saviors are there? Thanks.
Spoiler:
Hundreds.

The line is great because of how untrue it'll ironically prove to be. lolOh yeah, I guess we would have to wait till October to still see more of Negan. ...Honestly considering not bothering with Fear TWD that comes on in between this time around. It was such a filler borefest for the most part last year.
You never know, the series plays fast and loose with a lot of elements from the comics. For all.we know, Rick takes Negan out, takes over his operation, and becomes the biggest villain of the tv series, with Carol finally having to make him look at the flowers.
(It's highly unlikely, but we did hear it from Kirkman himself that no one's safe except Carol. That includes Rick then..)
Meh, Kirkman himself is the first person to admit that he'll flat-out lie to fans about upcoming plots of TWD if he thinks it will heighten the reading/watching experience for them--he admitted as much in the 'Letter Hacks' section of the most recent issue, in fact:

So basically, anything he says about the characters is... Dubious, to say the least.
Well, weren't they already paired up when the group raided Negan's compound? I swear I recall them being a team, and him having a bandana or something over his hair. So he certainly isn't wasting time. But the way he put Rosita down was rough. Basically telling her he was only with her because he thought she was all that was available.

So is Abraham dumped Rosita and Eugene was there with the quickness to snatch that ass up. Remember when Eugene was masturbating when Abe was plowing Rosita?
Will Abe go after Sasha right away?
Spoiler:
Abe should die very soon.

That's a good thing, imo.

Yeah, andSpoiler:
It happens suddenly, and almost casually.Spoiler:
That's one huge difference between comic and show: Death scenes have an entirely different tone to them. Hell, Rick lost his baby and wife in a single panel, and moved right on from it..

Dang, thank you. So i'm guessing that the place ricks group attacked wasn't negans actual compound?
Spoiler:
Negan has like 4 different outposts that he stockpiles various goods in, along with his primary stronghold/base of operation which he calls "The Sanctuary". These outposts obviously have much less manpower(and firepower) than The Sanctuary. Rick and co. just took out one of those outposts, me thinks... And even though Negan lost, what? 20 soldiers(give or take), those numbers don't really mean much to him in the end. Like I said earlier: he controls a considerable amount of people--more than Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Kingdom combined. If Rick lost the same amount of people, he would be completely f*cked--that'd be like half of his entire community.

Makes perfect sense, just pointing out the differences.
I kind of prefer the comic style. That badass you spent half an arc getting attached to? Gone. No time to process it, no sense of closure, just done and gone.
Zombie apocalypse indeed.
