It has been shown that the dead can pretty much be stymied by stuff you could buy from a Hobby Lobby. When your enemy can't handle a DOOR KNOB, I don't see why it would take all that much effort to stump them.

You still have to be cautious around the zombies, as any kind of noise/visuals can distract them, and shift the herd's... Trajectory right into the area(s) you're trying to protect. Hence the 'guerrilla warfare' comment.

It's also pretty obvious that Negan isn't just protecting his own community here. He's likely protecting Alexandria, Hilltop, and The Kingdom from this herd as well -- they are his revenue streams, after all. I doubt he wants them overcome by zombies. That said, I'm sure those communities' locations are also being factored into the Saviors' current herd-redirect, which would make things even more complex/difficult(depending on the size of the herd, of course.) /shrug

I get that Negan would have most likely seen through it, threatened to kill someone else and then Eugene would have spilled the beans anyway, but why didn't they just say that it was Spencer who made the bullet? He was just lying there dead, it might have worked.
