STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Respite

Zarjab begins to outline the ways of the Maltites.

The social aspects are ones you can somewhat agree with and may have seen in other cultures. While Malteen himself comes first, his followers come second and everything done by the Maltites is done in hopes of bettering their stance and situation. Everyone learns to fight to protect their people. Their morals are built on this.

However, those who go against the will of Malteen or stop benefitting the Maltites are branded heretical and executed. He implies that your first act of loyalty to Malteen will be to serve as executioners to imprisoned heretics and join in the Feast that follows.

I'm gonna defer to you guys here. I'm ok with fighting our way out.

Yeah, I'm game for that.

Xeth shakes his head when Zarjab tries to tell them that they are to be executioners.

"The Jedi don't take lives needlessly," Xeth says. "We won't be killing off your heretics. However, I can't promise we won't take some lives if you try to keep us from leaving. Your only warning, Zarjab. Let us walk or face the consequences."

"HERETICS!" Zarjab yells, not without a hint of insanity. He gestures at you.

"KILL THEM!"

"I hope you three have a plan," Navir says. Barker growls in agreement.

"Nope," Xeth says, before revealing his lightsaber and snapping it out.

I wink at the guy who allowed us to keep our lightsabers earlier, then face back to back with Xeth while gesturing toward the entrance we came in through.

Vera-Kin retrieves her own lightsaber quietly, irked at Xeth for racing for a fight despite agreeing that they should not work with the Maltites.

"We are armed and lethal, Zarjab!" Vera-Kin yells. "Give us a path out of here and none will be hurt!"

That does cause quite a stir when the three Jedi draw their lightsabers, one at a time, until it is quite clear that yes, you are armed.

Zarjab does not even give pause to think.

"MALTEEN SAYS KILL THEM!" he froths.

That being the case... you are surrounded by hostile enemies wielding melee weapons, with a scant few holding your blasters and Xeth's grenade launcher. It will be a fight to get out of here the way you came.

I'd like to point out that I didn't actually draw my lightsaber, I just faced back-to-back with Xeth.

...

Tilulla draws her lightsaber.

That being the case... name the schticks you intend to start things off with.

Was kinda hoping someone would prompt me here. Wasn't sure how to begin...It's been a while since I fought Xeth.

Bodyguard
Dodge & Weave
Whirling Strike

So it has! If you're going to use your lightsaber you're going to want to use Blade Schticks, not Combat Schticks. The latter work for unarmed or melee weapons, the former are specifically for lightsabers.

Xeth will have Balanced Guard, Charge, and Carnival of Carnage in.

Ah, right then.

Focused Guard, Bodyguard, and Block in that case.

...

Rexx, I do a quick scan of the room. Anything we can bring down on them?

Orthodox Guard, Cleave, Block.

Rex, are there any other routes out of the building? Going up, for example, through the roof?

Tilulla- You've heard of Jedi that can literally bring the roof down in a situation like this, but you don't notice anything significant that you could cut down and crush foes with. There are a lot of curtains and banners hanging from the ceiling.

Additionally, who do you wish to apply Bodyguard to, Ti?

Vera- Not a bad idea. As mentioned there are curtains and banners draping down, and one very rusted crane that formerly supported a holocam.

And what do Ti and Xeth think about going a different route? Group communication is necessary in a situation like this.

Rexx didn't mention a way out through the roof, just the banners and such. We may be able to cut our way through the roof, but it sounds far from certain. I vote back the way we came, I guess. But he did say it wasn't a bad idea, maybe GM hints? I dunno, there's my vote though.

I apply Bodyguard to...er, hell. Xeth I suppose. I choose Zarjab for my Focused Guard target for the +1Parry. For Block I choose the Defense bonus, bringing my defnese bonus to +3 with Focused Guard, which should make it useful as a Bodyguard-lending stat, right?

The main problem with a roof escape would be your allies! They don't have your Jedi acrobatics.

Unfortunately, Block cannot stack with Guards- it would be used for additional armor with Focused Guard. Nifty, all the same. Tilulla is a very defensive swordswoman.

Pft! NPCs.

I order Navir and Barker to charge.

...

Anyway, scratch that. Voting for the original escape route, the way we came. Apparently I'm defensively stacked at the moment, so maybe I should provide the blockade at a convenient choke point while you guys run for the ship.

Well... here's how I see it. Xeth could use his acrobatics to jump up and start cutting a hole somewhere up there, Vera-Kin could lift Barker and Navir up, Tilulla could Bodyguard Vera while she does this? Just a thought.

That or we could take Zarjab hostage.

It would be a slow escape but you would not have to fight through the vast majority. Not to mention you may be locked in melee if you don't get up immediately.
