Thanos vs Mephisto

Misphisto is more powerful then Thanos. Thanos is a low level skyfather Misphisto power level is around between an a skyfather/elder god level when he is not in his own realm.

Crappy! Because in one of the most recent (maybe the most recent? Haven't seen any since) issues Dr. Doom - with the waning power of the Beyonder stolen from Secret Wars 2 - needed the soul gem from the IG to enter Mephisto's realm and kick his ass to get his mother's soul back...

Thanos without the soul gem would be screwed...

Yeah, but the IG in other universes (which is what What Ifs are) are weaker than in the mainstream 616 universe. For instance, the IG's power was all used up after a 400 year war against the Celestials. How the **** does that happen? lol

The IG's gems were 'cracked' (just as stupid, but whatever), thus ruined, and the Beyonders power was nearly used up because of his battles...

Here is what we need to prove in order to determine a winner in this battle:

What proof is there that Thanos can effect ANYTHING on the metaphysical plane? In Silver Surfer # 45 (vol 3 I think?) when Mephisto is attempting to purloin the IG from Thanos he tricks him into becoming 'one' with the universe. During this Mephisto attempts to steal the IG from a distracted Thanos. The gauntlet begins to choke him to Mephistos surprise. He muses ONLY something of a metaphysical nature can harm him.

So, if Thanos does not have a cosmic cube/IG/HOTU/proton pack can he defeat a 'ghost'?
