Toph was an as*hole, but I believe there was a method to her madness. Not saying it was okay to be that much of a dick, but hear me out.
Up until Korra found Toph, everybody close to her had done nothing but be nice and kind and gentle and do whatever it was she said she needed. And because of this, she was still insecure, still had the poison, was still unwilling to woman the f*ck up.
Toph has always been a good person, but she's also always been rough around the edges due to her parents being for sh*t and spending a good amount of time fighting grown men before she met Aang.
Toph saw Korra for what she was. A scared girl who was too afraid to start getting better. And the only way out of that was to shock her out of it. She even tried to pull the metal out, but Korra wasn't ready. So she gave her a bit of time, and then showed her what she needed.
So while she didn't need to go quite as far as she did with her assholishness, the fact remains that Toph did in under a week what no one else, including Korra could do in 6 months.
Baartar Jr is going full on Percy Weasley. Good thing Kuvira is a cooler cat than him. She seems pretty genuine in not wanting to spark a war (yet).
I'm glad Ikki got some character development, one episode and she went from being the most boring and least noticeable AB kids to the most likable. Tbh partially because the other two have turned into jerks. And yes, I too wanted to slap the crap out of Meelo this entire episode. She-Jesus is just getting boring.

Pretty good episode. I said I wouldn't have been surprised if Toph turned out to be less shit in the near future and I wasn't surprised when that turned out to be the case."That battle is over now" was a particularly great line.
Also, anyone else find Ikki uncomfortably attractive this episode? Regardless of my lingering creepy lust for her, she's definitely my favorite of the Air siblings. She's just so easy to like.
"I threw it in the river."
Never before has a single line so radically altered my perception of a character. Jesus dude.
