Avatar: The Legend of Korra

You are referring to Haruko Haruhara.

The episode was nothing special IMO, I did like all the scenes with Varrick and Julie though, also a little twist I didn't see coming but it was long overdue.

I also love the fact that they acknowledged that Korra can just go into the avatar state and destroy the whole army, I'd actually like to see that. Aang has crushed the fire nation fleet, then leveled an Earth Kingdom city. Korra has yet to do something on that scale.

Yes! thanks, i was thinking Haruhi lol.

Anyway i just saw the episode, I wen't into it thinking "Oh meelo and Jinora aren't as bad as people keep saying" I was wrong, Ikki is easily the most likeable of the siblings atm, Meelo is as annoying as ever and Jinora is meh.

Can't wait to see the next episode 😄

At some point or another most of the Avatar protags have parental issues. And for the most part it's handled pretty well even if it's used on like every character.

But this ****er who's getting back at Suyin by conquering the kingdom has incredibly lame and petty reasons.

Suyin's son is a total ratbag. I hope

Spoiler:
Suyin and the Twins f*ck him up for betraying the family.

Good to get some more backstory on the Suyin, Kuvira plot. Personally I kind of agree with Kuvira that Suyin locking herself in her city and letting the rest of the Kingdom go to hell was lame and it was hypocritical of her to forbid Kuvira from leaving. She obviously has no qualms about her authority when it comes to Zoufu.

That said, Kuvira also obviously gained a few darkside points this episode. I'm hoping she can still be made to see reason but I guess we'll see what happens during the assassination. I feel like that'll be the part where we see whats up.

The big difference between the two women is that Suyin prioritizes her ideals above pragmatism, to the point of being willing to let human misery continue as long as she didn't have to feel compromised. While Kuvira is too ready to make the tough calls and bend her ethics to accomplish her supposedly greater goals. But now Suyin looks to be bending a few morals too, hmmm?

Not buying Zhu Li doing the thing.

Watching the episode. First thought is "Wow that's some cheesy as **** CGI", lol.

By the way, anyone else watching it on Nick.com? Since the start of book 4 I haven't had any trouble with it.

Suyin is a cold-blooded mother****er.

Not available in England. 😬

What a shame.

Hah...Kuvira had camps & stuff. Also while Kuvira is creating a tyrannical Earth Empire, I find it funny nobody gave two shits about the Earth Queen pretty much doing the same thing for the longest. Also I'm beginning to see a trend here. While I could be just speculating just for the sake of it, from what I've seen in the new Avatar world, the people in power are allowed to be a-holes as long as the rest of the world is okay with it.

She had no qualms about her authority over Zaofu because she created Zaofu and the people are happy with her being in charge. She didn't want to go out into the Earth Kingdom because the exact thing she said would happen, happened. Kuvira is a despot and a conqueror who is going to progressively more extreme methods to get her point across. And that's the way she's seen by pretty much everybody she "saved". The only people who are for her at the moment it seems are the people who don't have to actually live under her rule, like the people in Republic City.

heh. i had the opposite reaction; the animation in this show is top notch.

The mecha fight later on was pretty well-done, but in the beginning of the episode the CGI was really jarring to me.

Yeah, but Jinora helped + she didn't really use her avatar powers, just some random spirit powers by meditating under a tree.

Maybe she's pretending, but if she isn't can you blame her? Varrick's been treating her like crap for three seasons. Now she at least has a personality.

.

Preview.

It's looking less and less likely that Kuvira will be any more noble or just than any of the other antagonists of the show. Shame, I was hoping that they'd for once actually show a villain who had truly noble reasons but who's interests and methods are simply at odds with the heroes'.

The only reason why Aang was able to destroy the fleet was because the ocean spirit was helping him...
