What makes you think that was the only reason? He was water bending in the avatar state. Korra had no bending at all when she performed the spiritzilla trick.

I say that there's a 30% chance that Zhu Li is faking loyalty to Kuvira to be a mole inside her army and a 60% chance that she's serious but by the end of the season she'll become loyal once again to Varrick.

I'm thinking 90/10, the other way around. Hopefully the writing is more sophisticated than I'm giving it credit for and you're right about her being serious.

Indeed. If Kyoshi can split an island sized mass from the mainland and blow it miles away with airbending, or the previous Water Tribe Avatar could make a miles wide/high tidal wave for surfing. Sang making a water monster isn't that much of a stretch.

😂

Man, book 4 Korra would get it.

book 1, episode 1 Korra would get it.

dat midriff.

Too fat. Chubbychaser pls leave.

i love that THAT'S the issue you take with my statement.

LMAO. good episode, I kinda understand what Kuvira feels. But Suyin also had a point. I can't wait for the next episode.

Well that was embarrassing. Still an ok episode.

The Avatar State represents some of the worst writing to affect this show, ever since Aang.

Just get rid of it.

Why? She was stomping in the AS like she was supposed to. But was stopped by a plot device. I'm actually curious why it happened.

Because every time AS is used, it's stopped by a stupid plot device. They've invented a Super Saiyan but they think of all the ways in the world to not use it.

Korra didn't even use it once during season three prior to the finale. Sometimes they don't even try justifying not using it until it's the last episode so they can milk out the drama when it could have been solved at the beginning if she just used it.

The problem with it is that it's too OP, but they should have found a way to have written it off because its usage of it is pathetic.

I agree, they screwed up giving her complete control of it in Season 1. It made it so they needed to write around it instead of properly incorporating it like they could in ATLA. Korra is so powerful with it that she can't have a straight fight where she can godstomp the villains.

I wonder why it's still shown as a "power up". It made sense in the beginning and when Aang used it because he had the experience of all the previous avatars, now they're all gone.

Anyway, like I said.. I want to see Korra destroy an army.

I was really looking forward to the Korra vs Kuvira fight, but Korra got curbstomped so badly that I didn't find it that satisfying.

Suyin was dumb, lol. So far Kuvira is winning because she's just plain smarter and more focused and driven than everyone else. She even comes out of this looking like the good guy because she manipulated the situation so well.

I don't really have much sympathy for Suyin at all, to be honest.

All that's required for evil to prosper is for good (wo)men to do nothing.
