Avatar: The Legend of Korra

She was still being trained throughout that time, just with the last two years in active life risking situations.

It was the cage match thats bothering me. Perhaps it was only me, but I saw the defeat there as her being taken over by the trauma, with us actually seeing it. In this match we don't see any issues until the final strike. So I can't see the trauma being much of an excuse as they've been showing us when it takes control.

I see everything up to that point as being her skill alone. And thats what makes it disappointing. Yes Korra should have lost but not to that extent.

They went out of their way to show that Korra is in a sh!tty shape right now so it's ok.

Well.. how strong is Kuvira? Azula strong?

Holy ****ing shit, how many times can the same question be asked?!
but seriously tho, how is it that Korra couldn't beat Kuvira?

Korra was fighting very badly. Some of her attacks were off by miles. It didn't help that Kuvira was also really damn good. She has a very graceful, fast and economic fighting style that let her easily deal with Korra's clumsy attacks. Korra was the one making bad attack after the other while Kuvira just bobbed around avoiding them and then attacking when she was vulnerable.

Korra didn't land a single attack outside the Avatar State. Almost every single attack Kuvira made was effective.

How did we see that more in the cage fight? It took us another episode to see that Korra is explicitly feeling psychological trauma. At first we just saw her get her ass kicked.

I don't think I've asked but exactly why is this particular trauma Korra's going through so damaging. I mean she was terrified of Amon and briefly lost her bending & she was so scared in the second season she regressed to a little kid. So was it the combo of being poisoned and almost killed last season it: because she's been almost killed quite often as of late.

Also on the bright side, at least Kuvira wasn't stomping on one of the Bei-Fong sisters with Earthbending.

Yes, before we know she was having any issues when it came to combat. The instant this is established we're seeing it through her eyes in every situation it happens, including this fight. Otherwise we would have seen it happen throughout, not making it the same 'secret visions' until the very last one.

Lol.

Jr. is such a dick though fo real.

Literally everyone on this show with parents has some issues with them.

Sokka and Katara had moments annoyed at their father who left them even for a noble cause, mostly Katara though.
Toph's parents are completely overbearing.
Azula and Zuko need no explanation.
Asami too has a crazy parent.
Korra had a short arc about her not trusting her father.
Jinora had tense moments with Tenzin.
Eska and Desna also have a crazy father.
Amon and Tarrlok have a dick dad too.

Only notable characters without parental struggles are Aang (dead parents), Bolin and Mako (dead parents), Suki (no mention) and a bunch of minor characters.

But out of all these examples, Bataar is the fvcking worst written one.

that's kind of a running theme amid stories involving superheroes. Saving the world typically calls for you to neglect your parental responsibilities... it's that whole, "you have to share me with the world" thing.

Does Jinora really count though? Out of all the others listed that one don't really belong and is more on the lines of simple parent/child disagreement.

We didn't see it at the time, but we now know it was happening. It was hidden from us for storytelling purposes, but as those purposes no longer apply there'd be no reason to keep it from us this time. Based on what was shown, Korra's PTSD didn't come into play until she was in the Avatar state. She was just straight up outfought and humiliated.

Makes you wonder how the fight would have gone if it were Korra pre-poisoning vs. Kuvira. I think Korra would have won without using the avatar state.

Season 1 Korra was already shown to be one of the best fighters in the entire series. There's no quetion in my mind that she would have (and will) beat kuvira sans the mental trauma and rust.

Not sure if this is news but Korra is coming back to tv sets if anyone cares. 😐

Proof?

Should havve clarified it was the rest of season 3 but here's a tv guide:

Ah.

Anywho, newest episode was quite a bit of fun.

Yeah. Although all the arguing felt irritatingly forced. Also I have a feeling

Spoiler:
Toph won't like to be disturbed
