Anyone read History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi?

while it may be true that him never fighting a girl may be a permanent flaw, there is still a very improbable chance that this may change. people/characters change overtime and it's already been established how slowly some things can occur in HSDK. this is probably a bit of a bad example, but take Saiga. guy started out like a damn nice guy, much like Kenichi being a bit of a pacifist apparently, but after many battles his mindset changed and now he's seemingly the main antagonist.

and while he does have some very impressive resilency, his opponents are increasingly stronger with time, to a point where I'm honestly impressed he hasn't died yet. seriously, he's trying to fight Ogata. if it wasn't for the fact that he's the main character along with Ogata holding back due to him finding Kenichi interesting, Kenichi would have been dead.

and I don't think he's saying that he likes Kenichi more than the others or anything, he's just saying that Kenichi is one of his fav characters. I too can't deny that other shonen heroes are selfish in their own ways while being incredibly likeable (seriously, Ichigo and Naruto are two of my fav shonen characters), he's just pointing out that the desire to kill/annihilate others can both be a flaw and selfish.

Kenichi is not "overpowered".

He has had to work stupid hard to get to where he is. He is a genius of hard work....but sucks at Martial Arts. He also has the best training and teaching regimen out of all his peers.

Unlike Berserk who is a super genius at martial arts and has never had to train and is equal to Kenichi, right now, after only a few months (year?) of training.

I didn't imply anything. Again, I stated why I like the character over others. I can't speak for Ichigo since I don't read Bleach, but I would say Luffy is more selfish than Naruto, which is why I tend to like him less than Kenichi or Naruto. Kenichi does have flaws imo, whether you choose to acknowledge them as such is yours.

Okay that was a pretty cool chapter. My hopes for the arc have increased.

seems so. in fact when he first showed up before Kenichi and co. went to the amusement park, Miu was practicing sensing ki and mistook his for Akisame or Sakaki because he had so much. and he said he was trying to suppress it too, so chances are Tanaka is pretty beast now.

^ Or he is severely over estimating himself. That Savate kickboxer guy mistook Kenichi's Ki for Sakaki's at one point so that's not saying much. Ogata should troll this guy.

maybe. maybe not. that time the savate guy mistook Kenichi's ki for Sakaki's was probably one of the very, very few times Kenichi ever actually unleashed any ki at all so we can't be too sure on that part. at any rate though, Tanaka will be giving Ogata more of a challenge than Kenichi and Ryuto did.

^ no disagreement that he will, but still, even a low master level (which is the only feasible level of master I would put him at currently) should get owned by Ogata.

He bruises Ogata's face while on the phone and while saving Ryuuto's life.

Guy is clearly solidly master class.

^ With a sneak attack. You may be right, but let's see him do that when Ogata's attention is actually on Tanaka. I'm sure it will be another story entirely.

The point is he came from nowhere, and Ogata wasn't focused on him. Had he done it when Ogata knew he was there, it would have been more impressive. I want to see him land attacks now that the focus is on him.

Even if it were a sneak attack, I don't think it would've done anything to someone like Ogata if he were expert class. Not sure how this is going to go but multi-tasking lke that is definitely something a master class fighter could do.

^ Kenichi is low, low expert class and managed to touch him, so low master class could probably hit him when he isn't focused on him.

He should be at least Fortuna level right?

Yeah, he'd probably wreck Fortuna, but I'm not sure that guy really was master class.

it was generally accepted that Fortuna was low level master and he got taken down by the combined efforts of all the secondary characters like 200+ chapters ago. and naturally all of them along with Kenichi are stronger than they were then.

but as for Tanaka himself, he did more than just sucker punch Ogata and save Ryuto, he also managed to forcibly 'shut off' his Seidou Gou technique while casually chatting with his wife on the phone. granted as you guys pointed out, Ogata's attention wasn't on him, but still to sucker punch an elite master like him takes presumably greater skill than an expert class martial artist.
